Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Many would say yes.

Noting that should you fall ill, or your luggage be lost or things get worse and you get stuck there for much longer than your planned transit, you will not be covered by any TI as you are knowingly transiting somewhere on the Do Not Travel list.

Dubai is looking like a place to avoid and fortunately I booked back up flights on CX so its looking like this is the safer option.
Emirates are suggesting you can easily defer, cancel flights to 30 April so I advised the TA I am looking to cancel and if any flight changes come up then don't accept, its time to hit the refund button.

Trump just announced 2-3 more weeks, and then it's up to everyone who uses the straight to open it, I don't think this bodes well for the region until May.

He’ll tweet something else by next week anyway…

The crude oil price rose during the speech which gives an indication of what the market thinks….

Received an email from QR that my flights departing on 28/5 from BNE-FCO have been changed. When I click on the link to view the changes it says no such booking reference. They have also disappeared from my QR phone app so I can only surmise that they have been cancelled!

I would appeal anyone who made a booking on EK, EY and QR to record their booking reference in a piece of paper or screenshot just in case they are cancelled and unable to retreive.

I hope that's just a short term disappearance and the new flight will come up soon.

I just looked online at my SYD-BCN 23/5... flight times have been amended slightly and original booking is showing cancelled but rescheduled flights are showing as a new booking but with same ref

That would be the original eTicket email.

Never delete them until after travel has completed.

The second leg of my QR ticket has disappeared on their system. It is still showing on Velocity website (booked using Velocity points)

All Virgin Australia services operated by Qatar Airways between Australia and Doha (VA1 to VA22) are cancelled up to and including at least Monday, 15 June 2026. Affected guests are being contacted directly, and where possible, alternative flights are being provided.

We have a return flight in business rewards on the 7th June which includes a VA Doha to Melbourne flight. Guess we'll be utilising our backup flights.

Cancel VA-QR reward seats by phone with VA. Points will be credited quickly. I made the mistake of cancelling online, and still after a week, no points credited. Not exactly ideal if you need the points to re-book another flight. A rather lousy system IMHO.

Qatar announced the resumption of flights to BNE from 16th of May, no news about ADL or CBR yet.

EK is back to 70% of pre-war frequency from today but sounds like it'll take a while for QR to return back to normal.

I think you can call up and mention that it's taken a while and if you get the right CS rep, they'll initiate the return on the points on the spot.
