Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Apparently there are now issues with running out of medications for some Australians .

However I tend to take at least two more weeks than required. Note none of these are schedule 4 (?) medications.

All these screenshots of Flightaware / Flightradar24 - I saw yesterday an SU (Aeroflot) flight in Ukrainian airspace.

Must have been a bug / error - I should have taken a screenshot of it.

Meanwhile at the moment, there's 1 flight that's within / appears to be within Iranian airspace - TK709:

I don't think the white line means much. FR24 shows the flight avoiding Iranian airspace,

The sensationalist reporting is driving me crazy

Behind a paywall but the gist

Mrs Mitchell, from London, came to Adelaide to see family with her granddaughter Pia.

After their 9 day visit in Adelaide, Mrs Mitchell was supposed to fly to Doha at 10pm on Monday night and onto a connecting flight to London

“It’s hard, Pia is running out of food so we are having to find something similar to what she’s eating,” Mrs Mitchell said.

“It’s worrying because you’re not supposed to change what they eat this young.

It doesn't say how old the grandchild is but I'm pretty sure Australia has very similar food to the UK
I know. We are running out of food in Adelaide now! Seriously, how pathetic. And a 43 year old grandmother travelling with the child sounds a tad unusual. The comments are gold though. But go grab some toilet paper hey? Just in case.

For those have access to LinkedIn (and I think you can read this post if you don't), an interesting perspective from someone on the ground and the reality of what she is dealing with. A few things I didn't know, especially around the cost associated with a government evacuation is a loan, not a free ride. Her use of Gemini for the flight tracking has a few ideas that could be used for our flight research too.

Thankyou. That article is fascinating but probably not the right word in such a desperate situation. 😔

Ummm that would be my daughter in law lol not the grandmother aka me or her mum .

As expected

The white line doesn't actually mean much at all.

Looking at the green section, they are likely headed up to L750 (or maybe N644) airway over the top-right half of Afghanistan.. which would lead them into Turkmenistan to the north

It's an interesting read but keep in mind the author's job - Google Cloud Executive and Product Manager of Gemini AI. She's also currently hiring AI engineers: A Google Cloud exec shares the two ways she evaluates creativity in job interviews

Most likely also crew change
Yes, last time QF209 ran this was the arrangement.
FDP would be upwards of 22 hours without a crew change btw

With QF209 now arriving 5 minutes before QF1 from Sydney there's going to be a whole lot more people trying to cram into the F and J lounges in SIN every evening!
Definitely busier than present, but yep not quite as busy as 5-7pm (before all the AU departures)

4 weeks is nothing given the coughnals some of the ME countries have. Those of us that remember the 90s recall the gulf war lasted 7 months.
The Gulf War was a result of the invasion of Bahrain by Iraq and involved major on the ground activities to eject Iraq from Bahrain and then the military defeat of Iraq on the ground.
