MH Perth and Singapore lounges to close

If they're significantly downsizing, it does make some sense.

Though it says "service improvements" as if to say they're renovating, not closing for good?

When I clicked on the link on Friday the heading said lounges were closing, but now the heading has been updated "Service improvements in our lounges in Singapore and Perth".

Though the new MH CEO was quoted as saying recently in a news article that lounges were under review and would combine with partners/OW lounges where it makes sense.
So who knows exactly what it means! :D

The SIN lounge is very nondescript. No great loss IMO, as long as OWS/E can access the SATS lounge. If not, there is always the SkyView lounge - albeit in the next terminal.

If visiting another terminal to lounge-hop might as well use the QF and BA lounges. :p

Yes, but they serve satay in the old MH lounge!

Makes absolute busienss sense.
There are only two things which surprise me:
(1) the use of a 3rd party lounge in SIN instead of a OW lounge; and
(2) the description of the current MH PER lounge as "near the QF lounge opposite Gate 2" - from memory it's on the opposite side of Duty Free near the SQ lounge isn't it?

Totally makes sense, it is in a different terminal after all. In most airports I visit at least one alliance member will use a generic lounge. Here it's completely that way, everyone (AY/QR/MH) uses the lounge adjacent to the BA lounge. Anyway, maybe MH will now be less constrained and possibly switch to T1 eventually.

Sign on the old golden lounge door says it's available for Enrich/oneworld platinum/emerald and Gold/Sapphire. Oneworld when on a oneworld operated airline. Must get invite at check in counter. No arrival access.

Decided not to terminal hop today when I thought I only had 30 minutes departure. Didn't count on the 45 minute delay.
