I haven't seen a discussion here so I'm flagging as a few family members have recently been bitten by this.

MH Flex fares are no longer fee-free to cancel. I think they charge the same fee as the lower ticket tiers (so ~350AUD for SYD-KUL), but I could be wrong here. This affects any tickets booked from the 13th of August 2025 onwards.

See their article here: FAQ

In particular, in the Flex column:
Refund allowed with a fee (effective 13 August)

This isn't really flagged on their booking engine or on their main page - you must actually open the ticket conditions to see the refund fee. IMO this is quite poor for the regular consumer who won't read the T&Cs and will just assume nothing has changed with their fares.

On top of that, someone I know had to argue with the call center to waive the refund fee of a ticket booked before the 13th of August. My understanding is that trying to cancel online will hit you with the fee even if you booked before the changes.

So this is for family fare flex ...not for business flex from what I can see. No idea what family flex bundle is but that seems to be the point in question?

For economy class fares on MH, you don’t actually book into a flexible booking class - my understanding is that they just “tag” your ticket as flexible. Similar to what CX do as well.

For business it’s different as business flex still books you into a “true” flexible fare category, so nothing has changed there.

Around two weeks ago, I cancelled online two flex flights booked before the changes. No fee applied in either case.

Did go to book a new flight, noticed the fee there and thought it was odd. Makes sense now I've seen this thread.
