Just thumbed through recent Enrich newsletter/statement, and came across this:

Virgin Blue
Fly with Australia’s Best National Airline today
With 22 destinations in Australia, including every capital city,
flying down under with Virgin Blue is now more rewarding.
Enrich members can now earn Enrich Miles and redeem flights
with this latest partner airline.
To request for a flight redemption with Virgin Blue, call
1300 88 3000
(within Malaysia) or +603 7843 3000 (outside
Malaysia). Find out more about Virgin Blue and their
destinations at
www.virginblue.com.au

Could not find any details on earn classes or award redemption costs for DJ as yet though.

Excellent news... it will be interesting to compare the earn and burn rates with Velocity, and eventually with Virgin Atlantic once the details are released. It's great that each of these programs has earning options through credit cards (via Amex) so there will be some genuine choice in which program to choose for crediting DJ flights.

Just thought I'd add a comment about Enrich...

I recently flew Malaysian MEL-KUL. Before leaving I tried to join the Enrich program online. I got 404 errors every time I hit submit over a number of days.

I then tried ringing their customer service line and selected the option for Enrich enquiries. 3 times I sat on hold for 15-20 mins before hanging up.

So then I ended up ringing back and selecting the option for first class & business travel. I got on to a customer service rep straight away who was able to sign me up over the phone.

Frustrating that's the only way you can get somebody on the phone!

Now I'm waiting for some sort of confirmation letter I hope.

------------

Good news that it's now a Virgin Blue partner. Maybe I can score a free flight now since flying J to KUL should have got me a few points! We'll see...

Malaysia Airlines I think is one of the premier airlines operating out of Australia. I live in Adelaide and MH has more flights than qantas do and I know that alot of people fly MH out of Adelaide and also enrich has been good to me 4 business class upgrades in 4 years so no complaints from me or my family.Having an Amex card that earns Malaysia enrich points helps a huge amount as well.
Love Malaysia Airlines

So does anyone know the earn and burn rates for DJ in Enrich? I still can't see it on the MH website.

If you check the MH website and the section under Enrich airline partners now, it lists all the different fare classes for earning points when you roll over the DJ box.
Has anyone successfully earned points on Enrich when flying Virgin domestically?

That I don't know. MH's website only says Virgin Blue and because V Australia is listed as a separate airline, it might not be. I'll look into it.

Don't tell me that :(...I have to join up my wife's best friend (our Chief Bridesmaid) who is about to fly MH LHR/KUL/BNE/KUL/LHR in a couple of weeks. I hope the process has become better in the past 6 months.

OK, I won't tell you that :). My experiences so far have been good.

I signed two people up to Enrich around April this year - with no problems whatsoever. Some of the general MH website pages redirect to "not found", but the Enrich enrollments worked fine - and generate 1,000 miles online enrolment bonus.

We are yet to fly on MH, but have redeemed a lot of points (courtesy of the AMEX Everyday spend bonanza) for Business flights and upgrades. Enrich cards were posted out, even prior to any real activity.

I can second the previous comments about how useless the call centre is - but cannot speak highly enough about to how helpful the girls on the counter in the Brisbane office (in Albert St) are, if you front up in person.

We were looking to upgrade BNE-KUL-xLGK-xKUL-BNE to Business (having checked potential, we booked and paid extra for upgradeable fares). Availablity was present on everything except the KUL-BNE return leg. Whilst the rules say either it is available or not, and the call centre is strict on this, by speaking in person at the counter, we were waitlisted for the upgrade (waitlist on I class). Not only this, but they confirmed the available I seats (so they wouldn't disappear), but held off the points debit until we saw whether or not we would get seats (round trip cheaper to redeem the upgrade than 2 one ways, but the one-way cheaper if the return didn't come through). A couple of weeks later, the 2 seats cleared, so got the AMEX MR points transferred, then everything was ticketed. All this was after playing around with options of various fare classes - paid, upgrade etc to compare the most economic approach in terms of $ paid out and miles used.

Then to add to the fun, a couple of weeks later, some friends suggested we join them in Paris for a week, seeing as we were part way there. Decided it might be nice, but only on points (not expecting this to work). Went in to the office to speak to the helpful girls again, and what do you know - able to confirm 2 x I class award redemptions KUL-CDG return immediately. Then back to the waitlist sitauation with KUL-BNE again, as we had to push that back a week. That waitlist cleared once more after a couple of weeks. Total change fee was $US50 for re-issuing the 2 award upgraded tickets (the benefit of paying the higher "upgradeable" economy fare in the first place was that there was no change fee on that, only the upgrade award ticket re-issue).

Excellent, I have to do this tonight. Hope the bonus is still there

Hmm, might get them to be posted here so the CB has them for the return trip, rather than having them sent to her Oxford address and her finding it there on her return.

That is excelent information, thank you equus. We'll be shopping in the City during her sojurn here, so we may need to front up. But I fear that she has a cheap fare, so may not be able to do anything for her (was thinking of upgrading her on one sector for a birthday/Xmas present).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
