MH 777 missing - MH370 media statement

Not doubting that the above is the current plan, just pointing out that it seems to have changed again.

In any event think we are fortunate that Ocean Shield got its signal in the first place, otherwise it could now be 300mi south with the Chinese, who have gone very quiet

What is the likelihood they are on Deigo Garcia - ah, I think none. An emergency landing perhaps, but that would have been telegraphed across the world by now.
Well, the conspiracy theorists would suggest that the UK and likely also US governments were party to the disappearance and have it hidden in a hanger or maybe even dismantled by now. And that they have perhaps even dropped a dummy block box or two into the Indian ocean to generate some radio broadcasts (pings) for a while to distract the pundits, knowing full well that the chance of actually locating an isolated transmitter 4800m below the surface, when there is no actual aircraft wreckage there, is extremely low. Perhaps a UK or US submarine dropped it, or perhaps dropped from a P8 flying overhead?

But its all speculation from conspiracy theorists. I do hope we learn the truth some day, but I get the feeling it may not be for a while yet.

Ties in with another mad theory I heard. It relates to a US drone captured by the Taliban. Seems they sold it to the Chinese and it was freight on MH370. The US remotely took control of the plane (the theory claims this capability has been built into planes since 9/11) and they flew it somewhere to recover their goods.

I didn't mention it before because it was too crazy even for here, but after the Courier Mail article...............

Interesting to see both ships discoveries are so close to the handshake line.

The depth of the problem - The Washington Post

The address above takes you to a great graphic on just how deep this part of the ocean really is.

I was a bit confused by the 6,000 foot marker...

"6,000 feet – this point is around 9,000 feet from the source transmission on the bottom of the ocean. This would be the depth that an underwater pinger locator would have to reach to hear the beacon, depending somewhat on environmental conditions, according to Hydro International magazine."

But they heard the beacon at a shallower depth, they say it detected the signal at 4600 feet....and the pinger should be heard for many kilometres at any rate.

Just Issued - Update on search for Malaysian flight MH370

Media Release
10 April 2014—pm

The Chief Coordinator of the Joint Agency Coordination Centre, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston (Ret'd), has confirmed that whilst conducting an acoustic search this afternoon a RAAF AP-3C Orion aircraft has detected a possible signal in the vicinity of the Australian Defence Vessel Ocean Shield.
“The acoustic data will require further analysis overnight but shows potential of being from a man-made source,” Air Chief Marshal Houston (Ret'd) said.
“I will provide a further update if, and when, further information becomes available.”

I would find that very surprising.
Drastically narrowed the search area - maybe

But until you send a remote vehicle down - found no

Usually you find parts of the plane then find the black box, so you would expect to have the location of the black box, maybe not the black box in their hands, where is the plane.
