Bit of a party flight with drinks being served non-stop... excellent crew with a very talkative captain.



After much research I decided to hire a car with Easy Way .... great company that delivered on every promise made. Have no hesitation recommending this company.

Ok, the holiday starts now! First up - a three night stay in Tulum.

The hotel is one of four in Tulum owned by an Australian family ... this trip we’ll get to stay at two of them.

Our rooms were spectacular - absolute beachfront complete with hot tubs.

What an absolutely cracking place

First night we decided to eat at the hotel - combination of a beautiful setting and travel tiredness.



Our rooms are the two on the left.

Our first outing is Ek Balam. An easy 1:45 hour drive from Tulum.

Ek Balam was a Mayan city dating from 100BC to 1000AD

The roads are dead flat in decent enough condition.

You are going a long way to dispelling my dislike of Mexico

They’ve covered the more delicate artifacts from the elements ... however, you can climb the temple and enjoy the view.



2km from the Ek Balam is a Cenote Cenote - Wikipedia

You can walk, hire a bike or rickshaw. This the best way to cool down after climbing the temple .... these swimming holes are stunning - highly recommended!

The drive back to Tulum - you can see the vegetation trying to devour the tarmac... we saw many gangs of men slashing the old fashion way - machetes

This is a sensational restaurant - you would want to put it on the list!

Tulum - compared to other Mayan cities it’s not old (1200-1500) .... however, the seaside location makes it special.

Easy 10min drive from our beach hotel. I’d recommend coming early (opens 8am) ... you’ll beat the busloads of daytrippers coming from Cancun.
