Got a week long stay coming up in Auckland City soon, and got my eye on Mercure Auckland (Customs St) which works out around AU$78 for the time being.

Has any members stayed here and would recommend it?

I have stayed there a number of times over the years...

Pros

Close to Showgirls
Excellent breakfast - just dont ask for eggs sunny side up (thats another story)

Cons

Noisy (street noise)
Oldish - needs a face liift

For the price - its a good hotel, I would consider spending a bit more and stay better

I stayed at the Duxton in Auckland back in January and enjoyed my stay there.

Stayed at the Mercure in Customs St many times. It is certainly old and run down with noisy air-conditioners etc.

I prefer to stay the nearby Mercure Windsor (Queen St) which is much newer in styling (if a bit strange given it's built into an old Bank building) and more often than not, cheaper.

Only stay at the Customs st one when the Windsor is significantly higher in price.

Mercure Auckland is the Contiki Hotel for any of the tours so kinda gives you an insight to some of the guests which could equal noise etc.
