The toilets in my workplace are cleaned by both male and female cleaners. The toilets aren't closed during this (presumably as there are no alternative facilities nearby unlike behemoth shopping malls) and there is a yellow "cleaning in progress" placard placed on the floor outside.
I would be more concerned about filthy toilets TBH than toilets being cleaned regularly by cleaners of either sex.

I don't have an issue with female cleaners. They have a job to do, do it and leave. I'm pretty sure they aren't checking out my equipment...

Why segregate this from male cleaners? Are they taking a peek themselves? Or how about the guy next to you on the trough.

I'm not insecure. If men care, then use a cubicle (but not too many of you please... I do need to use them at times!)

I was using the toilet at OOL the other weekend, the female cleaner didn't seem too concerned that I entered. She even asked how my day was and we had a brief chat while I was going about my business. I wasn't the slightest bit embarrassed she was there. She is just doing her job.

I would feel a little uncomfortable but should be used to it by now travelling to Thailand so many times.

From memory at BKK airport the female cleaners sit at the entrance of the toilets and go inside regularly to clean and refresh supplies.

And I would be feel totally uncomfortable if anyone had an extended look at what I was doing. Not afraid and there is nothing much to hide but that is creepy.

Was in the Mel lounge today and hubby used the loo's, he said the lady was cleaning the basins when he was there, was very nice and greeted him and went on with her cleaning tasks, he didn't feel worried about it but is used to lady cleaners all thru Asia when we travel and didn't have a problem with it. The swimmer Michael Klim went in just after him and he didn't bolt out like there was anything wrong either, sorry had to name drop there, gee he's tall! I do love the fact they are always spotlessly clean, I hate dirty airport loos.

But sometimes in Thailand, at times & certain places I just can't differentiate the lady & boy anymore..
Which convenience facility do they use?

Good question and I do not know the answer to that one.

Swimmers? Of course they are.....they're always splashing around in the water! ;) :D

Liberties taken with selective quoting!

I think the important distinction here is cleaning the urinal when someone is already using one nearby.

Male or female, I'd be a bit uncomfortable. ...but probably more if it were a female.

Only issue I've had lately with the MEL airport bathrooms recently was arriving at VA lounge opening, using the shower and finding all Grown products had been removed sans conditioner. #firstworldproblems

I think its a bit of a storm in a teacup, if you want privacy use a cubicle, no one seems to mind the shower attendants in the SQ SIN lounge and the big gaps in the cubicle doors as an aside!

Funny you mention this. It makes me laugh every time I go in there, as every time I go in there she is there. If she isn't in there I can't help but feel something just isn't right, a somewhat empty feeling inside.

Doesn't worry me but just don't squeeze too hard at the urinals as we all know what can happen in male toilets, especially after a pressurised flight

That may have just solved the "urgent" problem?

I was thinking the same thing, I just walked into the men's toilets and she was not there. As I was walking back to the basin, there she was. Ah familiarity...

Reading the last few posts it seems like she's there all the time. I've never seen a cleaner in the women's toilet - you guys must really make a mess of things!! :)

Once when I was in China an African American man was beside me at the urinal and the male Chinese cleaner came over to have a closer look at him. Nothing discreet either, it was a full on look and commentary to his fellow cleaner.

Can't say I have seen any women in the mens cleaning in MEL.

The bartender at PER does know me though

Know, as in the biblical sense? Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I certainly hope not :p

Last weekend I got "welcome back. Off back home again?"

He just pours my drinks. Nothing more salacious than that ;)
