Have budget constraints but this is what I would like to do:

Melbourne to Asia (Singapore, KL, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta??) LCC. I can manage LCC economy for an 8 hour flight. Would like to take a couple of days break in KL, Sg or HK if I went there.

Business Class (Preferably) but Premium Economy if necessary for the overnight long haul to the UK, but may be cheaper to go somewhere else in Europe, and take the train to London.

As an aside, I have a friend in Bangalore who I would like to visit either on the way over or back. I thought about Air Asia to KL, then Air Asia to Bangalore. From there I could go to Mumbai or Delhi or ?? and fly to Europe.

Plan to spend about 3 weeks or so in the UK.

Coming home is flexible. Could leave from Dublin or Europe to avoid APD charges. Stopover in UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi) would be nice as never been there, but maybe too pricey. Stopover in India/Sri Lanka? Stopover in Singapore. All options considered.

Again prefer Biz/Premium Econ, but I could endure the trip home in Cattle with an airline with 32" pitch, and a couple of stopovers to break the journey.

Other like to haves - travelling on some One World airlines - as only need 15,000 more points for my 256k J award to London for next trip. But Velocity partners also ok, to build up those points.

Sorry if this seems disjointed, but I am just not able to explain it simply!

I have tried looking for some J fares out of various Asian cities to Europe, but not finding anything cheap enough.

Happy to answer any questions to clarify.

Thanks.

Hey AussieJohn, do you have a budget in mind for the Asia- Europe leg? SriLankan and Finnair can be well priced but it's getting reasonably close for good deals. Try skyscanner, for SIN for srilankan and BKK for Finnair to get your OW points.

Hi Lukaboy, I don't yet have a hard and fast budget for the trip. I am thinking that if I manage to find J for the long haul overnight at a reasonable cost, then it will mean coming home in Cattle. I won't be able to manage 2 J fares I suspect. I did look at Sri Lankan a couple of weeks ago, but was round the $2600 mark from Sin to LHR. At the moment I would like to budget around $3000 for the air fares, but I think that is going to be really pushing it, especially this late. Also buying single fares makes the journey much more expensive.

I am just finding it so frustrating to have to look at every airline's website and then search various city pairs over and over, day by day. What is needed is a website that has a month to a view of all airlines and prices etc. Utopia I guess, but someone will manage it one day I suppose.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
