Has anyone travelled the Melbourne / Broome direct QF service in the last year or so?

I'm travelling next month MELBME (Economy) then back a week later BMEMEL (Business Award booking). Just wondering about the in-flight service, entertainment etc. Are there seat-back screens? What's on the menu?

(I've applied for an upgrade on the flight up but know that as a mere Bronzey on a flight with limited Business section, I've got Buckley's!)

You would be on a 737, so it's a lottery as to whether or not you get seat back IFE.

It's not much different to any other 737 service. Just longer! I did MEL-BME in J and came back via PER. The PER-MEL was much better as far as an in-flight experience goes.

If it's anything like the Karratha to Melbourne/Sydney and vice versa flights it'll be a Pie. Dunno how much longer to BME it is from MEL? but in J you will just get the standard Domestic J class feed depending on time of day. So generally it's Fish/Salad and some other meat for your choices.

I don't know if QF seem to put a priority on it or it ends up the planes from PER get to head East for MX but the majority of Trans cons out of KTA have the new aircraft. Good thing with those flights thouhg J is open slather so pay Y and get a J seat, especially nice when it's a BSI aircraft!

So no idea if Broome has the same luck with getting new aircraft??!

Broome is an awesome spot! Enjoy it :D Can't beat sitting on Cable beach having a drink watching the Sunset.

If it was me I would go via PER and you will get a better aircraft.

Going via PER was actually my original plan, knowing that the better aircraft generally operate on that route, but, for various reasons, the timing of the direct flight works better on this occasion. Ah, well. I don't actually get to fly very often these days so any even reasonable flight will make me happy. I've had just two nights in Broome after a Kimberly trip a few years ago so am looking forward to seeing more of it.

And going via PER means you get more points and SCs. A true AFFer always connects rather than flying direct wherever possible. :)
