Hi all, I want to book a return flight to Heathrow flying on Singapore Airlines A380 through Virgin but I cant find any fare availability on the Virgin site. Does anyone know if I can book directly through Singapore Airlines and still get the Velocity member benefits?
I will be flying ex Melbourne but dont mind going through another Australian city if that is what I need to do,

Virgin don't codeshare to London on Singapore airlines but if you book through Singapore directly your Virgin benefits will apply.

Although be aware your bonus points won't apply to non-codeshare SQ flights, so you will lose some points earn compared to booking via VA and going Etihad.

Having said that, I recently did SQ from BNE to LHR and had such pleasant A380 legs, I'd do it again the same way! Going direct through the SQ website will let you select seats in advance too, which can be handy. SQ also has incredibly well priced exit/premium seats...

What really annoys me is that I've got a trip to Bangalore coming up, and can't book that through VA at all, which seems a bit ridiculous - it's not like I'm trying to get to some tiny city nobody's ever heard of...

Cheers,

Danny

Thanks to you both for the information. :) It looks like I will book directly with Singapore Airlines and at least get the lounge access although the status credits would have been handy.

Danny - Thanks for the feedback on SQ A380. Also, I couldnt believe they dont fly to India so I just had a quick look on VA website and I'm stunned too! I didn's see any options for you through VA!

If you're in one of the higher SQ booking classes (specifics are on the velocity site somewhere), you'll still get SCs and base points, it's just the bonus points based on your velocity status which definitely won't appear... Which isn't bad, I suppose - it's certainly what I intend to do for that Bangalore trip!

Cheers,

Danny
