Hi all,
I will need to travel to FRA (in Y) in late August this year so was planning to book on QF as per usual, however, as I have flown this route many, many times on QF I am considering using CX or AY for a change.
Obviously I will need to make sure the booking classes I use for CX or AY still accrue SCs and FF points and that the fares are similar. Lounge access should be no problem as I'm SG.
So I guess I'm asking whether there are any major reasons not to mix things up a bit and try another OW carrier? I realize that I'll be flying via HKG with CX (an airport I have not transferred through for many years) and that the AY flights will go via HEL.
I have read the stories about the killer hardshell seats in Y for CX but is the general Y experience much different in CX or AY than with QF?
Looking forward to your thoughts!

I would avoid the CX "slump" seats in Y at all costs, I know they are pulling them out but I would never fly in them again. I understand the feeling of wanting to mix things up and CX generally are good, its just those Y seats so check your choice carefully. Would be ok for a few daylight hours but definitely avoid anything when you want to try and sleep. AY are good in J, I did HKG-HEL-FCO last year, no idea what they are like in Y.

Cheers
