Hey all,

Have been searching the various posts until my eyes are ready to bleed!
Looking at going Melb or Syd to Dubai in J with a 5 day stop or so then onto Europe somewhere also in J using Qantas points.
Would prefer the southern end of Europe, Italy or so, but not overly fussed if the points used are a big difference.
What's the best use of points to get there?

So far I've found...
MEL-DXB with Emirates in J for 96k points.
DXB-LHR with BA in J for 52k points.

Is there somewhere else direct I can fly to in Europe for less than 52k points in J?? Everything seems to be through LHR!

Thanks in advance

Who do you have points with? QF and EK J one way to EU is pretty standard at 128k using QFF points regardless of where you fly into; you'll use slightly more with CX or QR legs.

Note if you stopover it is two awards. Whilst CX is more points, the taxes are a lot less so many target CX flights for this reason.

Welcome to AFF,

When are you looking at going? I can see EK J DXB-FCO for 50k later this year

Points are with Qantas. Yep I can find plenty of flights to Europe for the 128k. The key is getting a stay longer than a stopover in Dubai and hopefully not then using 149k points because of the 2 flights.

Thanks. Yeah that's what I thought. Just looking for a lower points flight into Europe for less than the 53k points to London. Was thinking Rome might've been less as it's a shorter distance.

Cheers. I couldn't find anything direct into Europe that didn't go via London 1st! In the planning stage for when flights open up for May 2018.
Would be happy to fly out of Doha also.

I only looked at a couple options but EK to ATH and BCN were also available

As others have said, you will need to pay for two separate flights if the stopover in DXB is more than 24 hours. (Not so if you were to stop for, say, 23.5 hours ;))

Most flights from DXB to anywhere in Europe will cost 50,000 points if the flight is Qantas or Emirates, or 53,000 points on any other partner (e.g. British Airways).

If you can find a route under 2,400 miles in distance, though, it will cost you only 36,000 points on QF/EK or 38,000 points on another airline. One route that falls within this lower band is DXB-ATH (flying Emirates). If you don't mind flying out of Doha, you could also fly to Budapest, Belgrade or Bucharest with Qatar Airways for the lower price.

Perfect Matt! That's the kind of out of the box thinking I was hoping for!
