Aim: 3 week holiday to Bangkok with a Singapore stopover on the cheap for 2 people.
Budget: < AUD$5000 including spending money
Airline: Singapore Airlines
Class of Travel: J
Hotel of choice:
Swissotel the Stamford in Singapore.
Dusit Thani Bangkok - Dusit Grand Room (Junior Suite)
How I score it:
1. Use KF miles to redeem 2 x J Saver Return;
2. Search the internet for the cheapest room rates;
3. Get the hotel to throw in as much freebies as possible;
4. Travel on our birthdays really helps to score freebies.

Total Spend: $3800 including airfares (well, just taxes). 3-night @ Swissotel. 18-nights @ Dusit Thani Grand Room.

Service with Singapore Airlines is great. In Melbourne Airport, don't bother going to SKL. It is basic and nothing exciting. Go direct to Air NZ Lounge instead. You get to see the big bird before you fly. The food and drink are better. The downside: 1. No boarding call; 2. Could be busy; 3. Can be noisy with kids.

Swissotel the Stamford: Location is superb, you can go anywhere in Singapore without leaving air condition comfort from leaving your hotel room. I would really recommend this hotel. Don't bother about getting a room during Singapore Grand Prix, the hotel has good view to the track.

Dusit Thani Bangkok: The hotel is really only 4-Star in Asian standard. However, compare to Australian and European hotels, it is definitely a 5 star. Dusit Grand Room ( Junior Suite) comes with Club Lounge benefits. So enjoy the food and drink without spending any extra.
