MEL-PPT options

Friend is travelling to Tahiti for a couple of weeks at the end of June. I checked out the options for her getting there and the main ones appear to be:

NZ via AKL - daily (maybe codeshare involved, didn't check in detail)
QF via SYD, legs into/out of PPT are codeshare on TN, twice weekly
QF via AKL, legs into/out of PPT are codeshare on TN, (appears to be daily)

She expressed a preference for QF (points and SCs, even though NZ is cheaper) - best prices I could find online were around $1920 - $1930 (with expedia.com.au and zuji.com.au - bestflights.com.au was $2009), and she is checking with TAs and QF. Via AKL seems better (about the same price as via SYD, and more flexible). It also has more civilized departure times.

Are there any other obvious options I may have missed? And any reason why via AKL would be no good? I know it involves an overnight stop, but to be 'safe' SYD would also involve the same.

From my search you have it covered as far as i can see. NZ, QF, TN
UA and AA do codeshare to there but thats QF and NZ.
Maybe somebody else know some airline flying that does not use the normal booking engines that flys there.

Amazing what a search turned up... AF flights via LAX and AKL, but nothing useful to your need except what you may have found. Also on the dates i looked at you have good prices.

NZ is cheaper but only fly twice weekly - going on June 20 and returning on July 7 is $1443 on Expedia. But there are several cheaper options available if the trip can be taken that week.

There are no other obvious options.

Thanks guys. Looks like I just happened to pick one day each way for QF codeshare AKL-PPT, and lucked upon days they were flying and made a rash assumption that TN flew the route daily . Fortunately the days that they do fly just happen, I think,, to be the right ones! I also got it wrong for NZ it appears!

Thanks for the cheaper fare...outward date has to be very end of June, I'll hunt a bit more.

It's indeed fortunate for me that AFF and its members are around to provide a sanity check for this kind of thing. Thanks again.
