Just booked 2 J seats on Virgin MEL-PER ret - appears to be 737 - any preferred seats and why please?

Agree with serfty - considerable difference between 737 and A330 offerings... but I always prefer widebodies!

I'm with Paddy55 and serfty....however if you have to fly the 737 then my preferred seat is 2C. I can stretch my legs out comfortably under the seat in front of me. (A bit more leg space than the bulkhead.)

We did this trip last week - definitely recommend the 'detour' via Sydney to use the A330.

Simply a world of difference.

Any ideas on when the 330 is coming to the MEL-PER route?

^^
I noticed it was scheduled on a booking in July 2012 - not sure when it starts before that.

Thanks for the input guys - have indeed re-booked via Sydney - any preferred seats on A330?

Appears to start late April/early May. Possibly even better than the Syd A330 - I understand it's a brand new plane, to be delivered in April. Supposed to have better IFE, but may have less legroom, as there is one seat less across in J.

Thinking of doing a J run MEL-PER-MEL to requalify for Gold. Is $859 one way a decent price? Seems heavily discounted.

Very decent considering it was $1,200 e/w.

I actually purchased 2 x flexi Y and used upgrades for next week.

At 5'10 I can just reach the bulkhead in row 1 - no chance of reaching the seat in front in rows 2 - 4 and it's fine even with the sea in front of me reclined.

How many of you traveling? For the four of us we went for 2a2c3a3c but with an empty cabin (both ways!) really shouldn't be an issue if you move after takeoff as we were encouraged to do :)

Yes brand new plane and I heard was actually a 330 in virgin livery in Melbourne last week - anyone know why?

6ft of rippling muscle - and Cruiserette will accompany me - just 2 of us - kinda thinking 2D & F.

Haha arn't we all :)

Yes good choice as the center seat in row two is always blocked (no tv screen) - still plenty of room on the side seats if you prefer a window.

I'm 183cm and it was good in the front row. Yes, I was able to toe the bulkhead but I was not trying to sleep.

If day or evening, you guys would be fine in any of the row 1 pairs, although the middle set has a few extra CM space betwixt.

If an overnight then maybe one of the latter rows to enable full stretch out.

Flew into PER last night - dep MEL 15:00 / dep SYD 17:30 on A330 arr PER 50 mins early at 19:55.

As for VA J experience - all I can say iis WOW - fabulous product - would jump at chance to do it again.

Was really surprised to be offered Lanson Champers on boarding - and Lanson Champers only sparkling wine on menu - gotta love that.

Well not exactly - first drink after take-off FA tells us no more Lanson - have Aussie Sparkling - caterers only loaded 2 botts Lanson because of stock shortage. Give me a break VA - not good enough - not as though you suddenly added extra flts or Lanson suddenly stopped being imported - was the only downer to whole experience.

Service AAA - well done and thanks VA - just give your caterers kick in the cough.

I'm not a big champagne fan, but I am a huge fan of the DJ/VA J offering between SYD-PER. The service has been excellent on the four occasions I have done the route.
