Hi

My partner and I have a combined ~ 700,000 FF points, and are contemplating the following Qantas itinerary, leaving after Xmas 2015 and back in late January:

- MEL - DXB - LHR, classic award F
(cheap ($215 Norwegian Air!) flight OSLO - JFK)
(cheap JFK - LAX flight - plenty around the $200 mark)
LAX - MEL in classic award J

We will be travelling with 1 x infant.

All up, it is going to cost us approx. $1500 in flights and taxes (incl. infant fees) and 290k in points each.

Classic award availability seems a little thin on the ground (particularly given the need to find 2 x F on the MEL - LHR legs) , but I have found availability, so should be doable.

Any thoughts re the value as opposed to a RTW? The RTW seems a bit hard to book...
