We've confirmed that the Melbourne-Perth leg of the new QF9 Boeing 787 service will be bookable as a domestic flight, and as it leaves from Melbourne's international terminal, which opens up the possibility of an F lounge run from MEL to PER.

Keen to book yourself 6+ hours in the Melbourne First lounge ahead of a four-hour flight to Perth?

Not so fast, hombre. You can expect prices to be deliberately sky-high as Qantas works to discourage domestic travellers (and F lounge lizards!) and keep QF9 seats open for the long-haul flyers doing Melbourne-London.

If the price was reasonable rather than sky high I'd consider it. I don't fancy the timings for flying through to London as I don't fly to London for business, just leisure.

I guess as there's no F seats on QF9 the spa will be closed?

But for every person booking a
PER-LHR or ADL-PER-LHR or Regional Wa-PER-LHR that opens up a free seat on the flight

Well pricing may be flexible enough to adjust depending on what the loads are for MEL-PER vs PER-LHR. But if MEL-PER is overbooked you know who'll be offloaded to domestic flights...

This would be fantastic. And would let me cross off both MEL F (I'm based here but like to fly out of SYD) and the PER dom J. Are the pizzas still good?

I believe that should be "you know who'll be reaccommodated"..... :)
