On the list for this event, I better work out whether I am going or not.

Boomy mentioned the sale fares and there is a flight that is cheap at a convenient time.

Serfty reminded me of an event on the next day that I am planning to attend as well, and there is award space on VA as well.

Looking forward to being there on 21st ... got to return to OZ from Istanbul safe & sound first.
Last night's demonstration here in Taksim with rubber bullets, water cannon & tear gas makes the next 2 weeks here an interesting exercise in trying to stay out of trouble

Can I suggest that tastings be a little more structured this time? I found last time there were bottles popping left right and centre and I know I missed out on trying a few...

You can suggest anything you like bc - whether or not it comes to fruition is another matter completely.

How about this for my suggestion - I will arrange the following:
1. The venue
2. The list of attendees
3. The list of labels being brought along

blackcat20 will arrange:
1. The structure of timing and dispensation of various labels for tasting enjoyment and assessment. (Good luck with that one)

I dont mean it has to be all fancy, but it would be nice if 5 bottles werent popped at once so that everyone gets a chance to taste everything.... last time it felt like you had to rush through each glass to get to the next one otherwise youd miss out. The only reason I didn't miss out on Bolly was because someone grabbed me a glass while I was visiting the ladies room. Just a little less chaos would be nice.

Doesnt leave much time for one to appreciate the champagne.

I also dont have the kind of budget where I can buy and then just skull expensive champagne. Would be nice to get to enjoy it.

If you split one bottle between 10+ people you dont get much. And if multiple bottles are open at once, people pour bigger serves, so by the time you finish your glass, the other bottle you want to try is empty.

I'm not trying to be a pain, I'm just trying to suggest some sort of non-chaos so I and others actually get to try everything.

bc I am only playing with you - YES I agree the last event may have rated highly on the 'higgledy piggledy' scale - but what can you expect when dealing with degenerates like samiam, AdMel, Goodonya etc?

But what to do? How to do? I have no experience in this matter and really do not want to learn on the job - any volunteers?

I'm happy to give it a shot but I can't guarantee success once we've reached the 15th or so bottle
