If I knew where to book (assuming a restaurant hasn't been chosen) I would take over, but not being a local I think it might be rather hard for me to choose a suitable venue and liaise with the owner/operator. I am very much looking forward to the night :)

Well kids there is good news and there is gooder news:

Good news: Appears I will be on Oz after all on Fri Aug 21.

Gooder News: I will indeed re-assume organisational lead and the sooking can stop!

Stay tuned for further posts.

Sorry to be late to the "party" but you have caught my attention and I am back in Mel on 18 Aug and would love to attend. A restaurant in Mel in a Friday night does seem a bit of a challenge, there are some possibilities around Docklands/Southbank I am willing to explore over the next 2 weeks before flying out if it helps. BYO may be an issue tho'

I am late to the party too... thank god for the AFF newsletter bringing this to my attention! I'd love to attend

I'm pretty sure we are returning to the venue of MELCAN 1.

Seems this event slipped under my radar... thank god for the newsletter!!! Count me in! :)

Welcome back - now I need to find something to complain about :p:p:p

Anyhow, back on topic... What's everyone brining?

Passion Pop? :p:p:p

Patience children - let's finalise a venue first - I will indeed be in Toppys on Sat night - I will ascertain their willingness to accommodate and suitability of said establishment for a Friday night shindig - will report back post meeting with them.

In the mean time - if there are thoughts re an alternative venue then please do not be backward in putting suggestions forward.

So I was actually in Topolinos on Saturday for dinner and it was like a ZOO - every seat taken - tables turned over as soon as vacated - and that area up the back where we held MELCAN I had musicians playing who were so loud you had to lean across the table to converse with those opposite.

BUT

I spoke to Management and indicated we would like to replicate MELCAN ! and what were their thoughts. They are more than happy to accommodate us on Friday August 21 and that indeed Friday nights are not quite as busy as Saturday nights and there is indeed no musicians playing on a Friday night.

Here is a pic of the area we occupied at MELCAN I:

And the noisy muso's whom we won't have to tolerate:

So Mat's suggestion was to set us up in the furthest back corner of rear section which most likely the least trafficked area on a Friday night:

I know - I know - down the back = Y - think SQ's 345 All Business Class flts and we can all live with the relocation.

So time for final decision I think - March 1 was the date I started this thread and I haven't seen an alternative venue offered up - so should I assume that intending attendees are happy to proceed down the path of MELCAN II being held at Topolinos in Fitzroy St, St Kilda on Friday August 21?

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Given the lack of alternative venue, and the excellent service from the team at Toppy's last time, I am happy to go for round 2.

The main caveat is that Goodonya doesn't complain about Prawns and Scallops this time.
