Meet me in the SQ Lounge thread

Flying MEL - SIN in J for the first time in a long while later this week.... assuming the SQ J lounge is still the place to go? Or is the Air NZ J lounge worth a visit?
The new silverKris lounge in SIN is now up there with the best. They have a hawker food station and a nice walk up bar. I will be there friday morning 07.00
Edit. Sorry my mistake. No the J lounge in Melbourne is very average. Ill be spending my PP dollars outside and go in later.
2nd edit. It is still a comfortable J lounge and they have all you need. First World problem.

Wife and I will be enjoying the First lounge in Sydney on the 7th of July from about midday, and hopefully the Private Room or the First lounge in SIN on 11th from about 9pm. Happy to say hi to any fellow AFF members in J or F lounges.
There used to be a few who suggested the J lounge was better in SIN (more options, less "sterile") - anyone want to take up the cudgels on that idea? It's been years for me.
Thanks,
P

Can confirm the MEL SQ J Lounge is average, at best....

BNE SilverKris Lounge until boarding.

As expected strict in 1 guest including children. Went in with daughter. On way out man with 2 young boys at counter and again told strictly one guest. He turned and walked back.

The lady at reception has to be close to the worst I have encountered in my travels. I walked back into lounge, she glanced up at me and then she looked back down into her boredom. Totally disinterested. Should not be in customer service.

SIN T2 KrisFlyer Gold lounge until boarding at 8:30am.

Me: I'm only entitled to one guest. Can my wife and daughter go in the lounge and I'll go for walk in terminal?
Reception: Please wait. What time is boarding?
Me: 8:30am
Reception: (Having quiet chat) All 3 of you can enter, this one time.

This is lucky again but very good customer service. Lots of space in lounge and 7 year old is only eating small bowl of chocolate cheerios with milk and sprite.

Can't believe your little one is 7 !!!
It seems like only yesterday, you were posting about the travails of flying with an infant.

That makes 2 of us.

The thing that surprises me the most is she now gets more attention as she gets older. As people notice her we've noticed that people go out of their way to come talk to her everywhere we go. There must something very exotic about the Greek/Thai mix.

And she's learned/learning about business class more and more. And of course the expectation that we'll visit a lounge at every airport we visit.

"Dad why can't we all get in the lounge?"
"Because dad can only bring in one guest"
"Oh!"

BKK SilverKris Lounge until 5:45pm.

Cannot guest as I've already guested wife and daughter. Wife is happy. Hope we get same treatment in SIN later with 2 guests.

SIN T3 KrisFlyer Gold lounge.

Cannot guest as I've guested wife and daughter. Another exception. We're on a great run only broken by BNE SilverKris Lounge a few weeks ago.

SIN T3 SilverKris Lounge.

"Sir, children over 2 years old are counted as a guest, but we'll make an exception this one time."

Who am I to argue!

We fly to Changi this week on SQ, on SQ222 arriving 9pm which seems pretty much on time from past flights and I think arrives into T3?

We changed it from the SQ mid-afternoon arriving flight.

Problem is a local is meeting us there, and we owe him drinks and supper etc, and a 9pm arriving fight is not ideal for heading outside to Changi Village etc!

We'll be in biz and off plane pretty early, and I guess I'll suggest he meets us at customs exit. I assume there are bars or better eateries around that area? Did not look when we were there in November.

We fly Biz to Brunei next morning early with SQ mainline.

No idea if we can talk our way into the very nice Silver Kris lounge for a drink and snack - I suspect it will be 'NEIN' for arrivals, but maybe with next morning flight proof they'll be OK with it in evening? Anyone ever tried? :D

Thinking more about it -- is there a 'length of time cap' for visiting the lounge there? They have those 2 rooms of sleeping recliners there at back. If we arrive at 9pm on SQ with carry on only, and go to lounge to say we are going to doze ahead out our 9am Biz class flight to Brunei, that should be allowable I guess? And a guest is allowed in with a Biz passenger - or do they need to be flying SQ? (We are both also Star Alliance Gold members.)

In 2022 I arrived SIN in evening and had ~16 hour transit with flight around midday next day and had no issue accessing lounge all night.

In 2023 arrived SIN in evening with wife/daughter a few times and had no issues accessing lounge with early morning flight.

I flew Biz SQ MEL-xSIN-KUL last month, MEL flight arrived 9pm and KUL flight departed 8:30am - no issues using the SKL. In mid 2022 I did similar with a midnight arrival and a 4pm departure (actually did WFHL during the day).
