VIRGIN Blue Holdings chief executive Brett Godfrey says the airline could reduce the fuel surcharge on its airfares if world oil prices fell more.

Speaking after today's annual general meeting, Mr Godfrey said Virgin Blue (vba.ASX:Quote,News) had not increased its fuel surcharge since April 2005, despite rising fuel prices.

But he said if oil and jet fuel prices continued to fall, the airline would consider a cut.
Lets hope this is the start of some regular fuel fine reduction news from both major airlines in Australia. It may engourage Qantas to reduce their domestic fuel fines as well.

Great news! Finally a faint hope of competition in Australia that may force the end of the ever increasing fuel surcharge.

No matter how much people rubbish DJ, at least they provide competition within Australia.

Hopefully they will see an ability to decrease their surcharge soon - pretty much forcing Qantas' hand into also decreasing their surcharge.
