Media Reaction to QF Troubles

sorry..wasnt my intention to be simplistic..just a bit more realistic..
my apologies

No apology needed.

Both angles ("I'm only human" and the other extreme) are fundamentally flawed because both are blanket arguments to avoid the real issues. No News tends to take the "other extreme" and hence make QF (or airlines, or any big fish company) bashing a sport, but no one is prepared to investigate, report and address the real underlying issues (including some within QF for that matter).

Has anyone looked at the ABC News website regarding the flaps problem a QF flight had between SYD and CBR? The whole thing sounds like a non event, but I didn't know Qantas flew 747's on that leg, because that is what the picture on the website shows!
Naturally I believe what I see in the media..........or do I?

As someone who was closely involved in an incident that made worldwide headlines a couple of years ago, I can say that my respect for the media knows no lower limit.

I think I am going to post that letter that QF sent of to QFF members on my agency site, I'm sick of the media making my customers think QF is unsafe

Josh:p

F.Y.I. I wasn't implying that FlyboyAl was a customer of mine, his post was just a good example of what I have been hearing over the last week

The QF5 incident is the only one that probably could have been considered news, and I base that on the fact it was subject to a distress phase being declared, which by definition means a situation wherein there is reasonable certainty that an aircraft and its occupants are threatened by grave and imminent danger or require immediate assistance.

The distress phase was an automatic call because the PIC declared a mayday (and probably squawked it as well which would have been like a fire alarm in all the ATC centres with radar coverage), thats very rare in the event of an engine failure on a 747, hence why I think it was newsworthy.
