I have booked QF BNE-AKL and NZ AKL-RAR on separate tickets. When I booked them I though I had plenty of time, but on review I have 2:10 between ETA and ETD. NZ seem to have a 90 min cut off for international check-in leaving us 40 mins.

Assuming the QF flight arrives on time (is QF123 generally ok?), will 40 mins be enough time to get through immigration, collect baggage and around to the NZ check-in desks?

Thanks!

That's cutting it a bit fine IMHO... With only 40 minutes up your sleave, and chances are you'll need to actually enter NZ (esp if you have checked bags), it's a pretty tall order, and you have very little room for something to go wrong in.

I'd suggest giving AirNZ a call and let them know what you are doing. Also you may be able to speak with / check in with AirNZ in BNE prior to departing AU so you already have boarding passes and thus only need to drop bags.

I am going over for a wedding with SWMBO so will definitely have checked baggage!!

From the akl.co.nz website it appears to be a smallish airport as far as distance to walk, but the unknown is always the immigration/quarantine queues.

I will try calling AirNZ and see what they say.

what time does QF123 arrive these days? AKL has become pretty efficient and I'm usually 15 mins from gate to exit these days including luggage, 25 on a bad day. If you have an e-passport, you can self clear which saves a lot of time. Its tight but you should be ok in my experience. Also the 90mins is a soft restriction. I usually check in at Auckland between 45-75 mins before ETD.

Thanks for that info f.n.m. We both have Australian e-passports.

QF123 is ETA 14:35 with NZ18 ETD 16:45.

this time of year unless Emirates is running late you only have a couple of trans-tasman flights to deal with. You should be fine - it's a 5 min walk if that to check in from the arrivals exit. All on the same floor.
