maximise status credit earn on SIN-KUL-SIN

I've changed jobs so my days of 2600 status credits a year seem to be over for the time being and I think to hit Platinum again this year I'm actually going to have to take some notice of whether i'm earning SCs at the best rate.

I have to do a hop from Singapore to KL and return and am trying to work out the best SC return.

Am i right in thinking that i can get SCs at the non discounted rate if I fly J* and pay the economy max bundle, and this is better value than MH as unless i book in Y for which there doesn't seem any way to guarantee this, i'm going to end up with discounted SCs?

You will get 20 for Economy max or 10 if you select the max bundle, but its a 100 delta, not worth it. Dont use MH unless its a good value J, same SCs but poor earn

and MH J (like SQ J) is normally pretty expensive on that route.

There are however some good routes inside Malaysia.

MH is 40sc per sector I thought? You can get some decent return on SCs but the points are lacking.

SC earn is the same across all airlines that are eligible, in this case 10/20/40 being Disc Y,Y and J

That's what I thought. Just interpreted your comment about MH (above) as being only 20SCs for J, too.

thanks Guys. Someone at Qantas must have read my plight and graciously sent me a 50% bonus SC offer for the next two months. that'll help a little.

i'll probably just take the J* plus bundle for this one.
