Spending two days enroute to Vanuatu in BNE mid June. And have to get 2 Adults and 3 kids to Chermside where we will be staying put doing some shopping.

Do maxi taxis actually sit on the rank at BNE, or somewhere close by? The flight from POM can be notoriously late, so not sure if I should book one, or if they hang out at the airport.

Except at DRW, have never had a problem with Maxi Taxis. However, why not get a hire car like a Territory for the two days?

Normally would, but a taxi to Chermside is under $40 each way, and we are staying at a little motel directly beside the mall. We won't be going anywhere else :). Fly in Thursday evening, fly out Saturday morning - shop all day Friday :)

Yes they are, often one in 5 are, and talking international terminal - there are only 3-5 taxis visible, with the rest in the main rank down the ramp, and if it looks like you need one or ask the taxi council person manning the stand for one, they will signal for the next one in the rank to come up (signal is drawing a box in the air in view of the main rank) and within seconds you will have a maxi up and ready for you to hire. There is always a que of 50 plus taxis at the BNE international terminal waiting for a fare.

Chermside would cost around $40-$60 each way. $40 is plausible, but at the lower end in a maxi. I live in Tagium, and a maxi is normally around $50-60 from the Airport. Then is $45-50 going to the airport.

Plus there is a toll option airport to Chermside, Airportlink M7, $3.82 one way, that you may need to decide if you use or not and ask the driver prior.

Awesome thanks - :) even $60 each way is less painful than a hire car... Appreciate the reply.

Waste of money most times of the day, if it's after 6PM tell the driver no tolls, and to go via Toombul.

I would agree, but is more around 7pm, can still be a carpark on Sandgate road at 6:30pm.

Toombul to Kedron is pointless toll unless you have peak traffic between 4-7pm. Even then would rather avoid Gympie Road and simply do Sandgate Rd onto Hamilton Rd and you are at Chermside, avoiding Gympie.
