For those of us with an interest in higher-end luxury properties, certain properties under the W, St Regis, Luxury Collection and Ritz-Carlton banners have been bookable via Virtuoso or Starwood Luxury Privilege rates (and in some cases also via Amex FHR) for the usual upgrade, early/late check out, breakfast and spending credit benefits. I have taken to booking via Classictravel.com on occasion as the only OTA that lets you book Virtuoso immediately and online without needing to wait for human intervention.

Today I noticed that they now have a category entitled Marriott Stars Luminous Hotels - Marriott-Stars-Luminous Hotels - Find and Book Luxury Hotels – Classic Travel - anyone know if this is just a rebranding of Starwood Luxury Privilege or something new?

Have you had any issue with points posting to your Bonvoy account? Or not getting Elite Night Credits to your Bonvoy account? Any snags you have come across thus far ..I assume it is a value comparison between what the Stars Luminous rates provide and their cost compared to booking direct ...and the USD to AUD conversion.

Can I ask how you communicate your Bonvoy or IHG Rewards # to Virtuoso to ensure that it gets passed to the hotel so your elite benefits are recognized?

I have had Virtuoso bookings with Bonvoy and IHG.Points have accrued to both at rate expected.

Booking Virtuoso means booking through a travel agent, so I make sure they have my Bonvoy number. I then confirm when checking in at the hotel (or confirm benefits directly with hotel prior to arrival). I've only hit platinum recently so don't have a lot of data points but so far I haven't had any problems with status recognition.

Excellent thanks!

I assume the TA does not give you a Marriott confirmation number so you could look it up and attach to your Bonvoy Profile here?

Marriott are actually very good.A day or 2 after a virtuoso booking and even a Luxury Escapes booking I get an email from the hotel confirming my booking.

They should do. No reason they shouldn't provide to it to you. My latest bookings through my TA shows up in my Bonvoy app trips list anyway (I haven't needed to ask her to send me booking confirmation numbers).

Very nice so the TA has obviously set your Bonvoy # in a loyalty field which is picked up by your Bonvoy account. Aside from Classic Travel ...who appear to be the only online platform so you don't have to call/email/visit a TA ..are there Australia based TAs anyone recommends?

I have a TA I use who is based in Melbourne - I generally use her for Virtuoso specific bookings. As @Isochronous mentioned, Classic Travel is a good portal - I use them to check pricing to work out if I am better off booking via a TA or directly. There are a few Virtuoso threads on the forum that might be worth a look too.
