I understand what you are saying but it is disrespectful to BR as he has done so much work on organising the entire weekend in AKL.

Without humour the world is boring. I'm sure no disrespect was intended to Sir Reggie

I'm sure we all appreciate bossreggie's work. As a non-attendee, I certainly admire him for dedicating so much of his time for the benefit of others. Although I've never had the pleasure to meet him, I'm sure like the rest of us he would have a good laugh at this thread!

The lighter side of life is the better one, folks

Desert: This is definitely the exciting part of the day, one many of you won't ever forget! … COLD ROCK. My "Special" will be provided to all FOR FREE!!!!!!!. Its a wonderful mix of Coffee Ice Cream, Bounty & Oreo Cookies. …

What about the crepe place? They do some alright tucker. Plus, the decor is very swish :p

Holden!? Ford !? this is cairns! Organise a moke or pink bug and I'm in*! Or even a 50cc scooter.....

* nah gammon. Can't do it after turning down BR's offer. That would be an insult..... ;)

Well....... 10 nuggets you say.......If I hadn't already put such an effort into the BR lunch I may have flown up and joined you. Would there be BBQ sauce??

Sauce?? Really?? That takes away from the dryness of the chicken. But I'm sure I can arrange some for the boss :)

In CNS it's called "coughes"..... (according to their signage ;))

I've been told that despite the spelling, the 'coughes' are actually not too cough :)

Nothing BBQ sauce couldn't fix!!

I thought Nautilus might be more acceptable to BR ;)

Although we may have to book the whole restaurant out as the typical AFF raucous-ness might not fit in with the typical Nautilus ambience!

PS. I'm definitely in for a Waterbar night if we do actually organize one......

Major - you might be on to something!!

(and there is a Cold Rock, Baskin Robbins, New Zealand Natural, and Movenpick all within walking distance too :))

Waterbar ... now you have me thinking seriously ... could do that

What about a simple steak at Paddywhacks? (formerly Apres) in the city?

Edit:

This shows my dedication to Cold Rocks financial state - but the city store does not have the same selection as Earlville! (one man - one company - keeping it alive!)

If I'm to be tempted to fly to CNS for lunch..... To be fair, nuggets won't cut it!!

Happy to come up for a bite to eat, however it would have to be an AWESOME restaurant.

Boss

How about night markets around the time the price of a plastic plate full of
asian food is slashed? If you dont buy it, dont worry, it will be back tomorrow.

Well to be fair, McBites are a new product and not Nuggets! :)

The "Awesome restaurant" condition rules out most places around here - i'm not a seafood eater so that rules out the other few restaurants around town (for me).

Waterbar is probably the most likely place for something - it has a decent selection of dishes, and allows it to be on the casual side of any "meet up" - its not a "fly up for lunch" place though

I would go with Waterbar in Cairns (for the waterside casual dining experience), or Salt House would actually work quite well for dinner as well - they actually have a private dining room that is quite decked out with the cellar stock ;)

Actually Salt House would probably be more up to AFF expectations and style - I'm sure they could do a few good non-seafood options too.

I must say that I think it would be difficult to go past Nautilus (Port Douglas) for service and food......

But more of a logistical exercise - certainly not a "fly in for lunch" do - but then again, CNS really isn't.

I might drop by Salt House on my break and get some info from them on their private room.

Salt House is excellent. Was in Cairns recently for a family thing and ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there, all on different days  and all excellent!

I had forgotten about the signage! It cracks me up every time I'm up there visiting the family. I just don't get the "coughes" thing.. lol.. Queensland :p

Surely your lunch should be held on April 1, at an AYCE Restaurant....
