That's still in peak season so obviously there are still lots of demands. I cannot even see the inventory on 16th January given I am only NB, and you are Gold so you have more access of awards than I do.
I suggest you give QF a call to find if there is other ways to get an award ticket. Or you can even just do award on J MNL-HKG, then buy a J flights from HKG-SYD directly.
