PR have just changed our December flights and we now need to overnight in Manila rather than at Haneda. Any suggestions for somewhere we can easily get to after 7pm arrival and for 9am departure? The closer the better. Thanks.

Depending on which terminal you are arriving and leaving from. I have an overnight in August, terminal 3 in both instances. I've booked a cheapie through air bnb that I can walk to and from the terminal. The area is called Pasay.

A few years ago I had an overnight transit in Manila and was looking for hotels. There’s a bunch just across a road from the terminals but at the time there was no easy way of getting there due to zero pedestrian access, and the reviews vs price weren’t outstanding in any event.

I ended up booking The Heritage Manila and booked return transfers online through nissanrentacar(.com)

The latter were very keenly priced, and the meet and greet worked perfectly. The Heritage was close enough not to get bogged down in manila traffic.

The pedestrian access might have been built by now which would make a hotel that was walkable the preference. But I was happy with the Heritage, nothing grand, but clean and comfortable (think Mercure standard).

I hadn’t considered that, I’ll check thanks. Will also check terminals as it was only a quick transit until yesterday when PR notified us. Luckily we can cancel Haneda hotel.

Thanks for that. The walkway would make it ideal if it’s there now. Would certainly want to avoid traffic.

Which Terminal are your arrival and departure from?
There is an airport hotel adjacent to T1 and in T3 there is an airport transit lounge that does have some bunk rooms and sleep pods you can access for about $50 for I think around 8hrs. As it’s a 24hr lounge the price gives you unlimited food and beverages. Have never stayed at either though as it’s only about a 15 minute Grab or taxi ride into town to stay at a decent hotel like the Conrad

We arrive and leave from Terminal 2. Arrive 5pm, leave 9am so it’s really just a good sleep and a meal, two couples.

There is no shortage of decent hotels only a short trip away by taxi or grab. You could something like the Sofitel normally for under $150/night but plenty of other cheaper options
Sounds cheap for Sofitel, it’s showing as $214 night….. the Haneda room we cancelled was $240 per room so we were in that price range anyway. Yes there are a thousand choices, that’s why it’s great to have one recommended. I was wondering about traffic and getting back early for the 9am flight. Maybe it’s easier than I think?

Terminal 2 is in the middle of the airport.

Not that it helps you, but Terminal 3 (which QF uses) has the (220 metre) pedestrian footbridge (since 2017) direct from the terminal to the hotels, where there is also a shuttle. I always stay at the Belmont Hotel which is literally 50 metres from the end of the footbridge. It is an excellent hotel and reasonable value.

If you have to be back at Terminal 2 for a 9 am departure you would be best to find something adjacent to that Terminal and avoid or minimise any land transfers, although I think at 5 am, or whatever time you want to be at the Terminal to check in, the traffic should be better than the nightmare that it is in the evenings.

Grab is generally OK but the taxis can be a rip off depending on the driver, just like at any international city airport. There is also the reluctance to do short trips.

That’s very helpful thank you. Firsthand experience is so valuable. Yes it’s the 5am transfer that I’m most keen to make as smooth as possible.
