Had a frustrating experience in Manila over the last few days, firstly trying to change a flight with the local office resulted in long queues, dropped calls, being told to call back whilst they compute the fare difference and then when I called back the person I'd spoken to had left so I had to go through the process again. Was eventually given a price that they couldn't confirm was right so I gave up and called Australia where my change took less then 5 minutes and for a considerably smaller change fee.
Also asked on Qantas Facebook whether they terminal fee was included or not (it is supposed to be now) and was told yes, but on arrival at Manila had to pay the terminal fee for one ticket at the QF service desk and then the other 3 at another kiosk... Some other pax on this flight didn't seem to have the same problem.
This followed by hassle entering the PAGGS lounge with a guest, which incidentally was a pretty poor lounge. Was pretty frustrated at this point, with all the hassle that is Manila (no least because we had to pay 600 php for documents for my wife and children who are dual nationals to say they were exempt from paying departure tax... go figure, but not Qantas fault).
Anyway, on a full Y ticket and knowing the flight was full I wasn't surprised to receive an OpUp at the gate, which my wife insisted I take and get some sleep and swapped with her before breakfast. The service onboard was excellent, with a very friendly and proactive crew, who also sent chocolates from J back to my kids. The onboard crew were superb in every respect, that I couldn't ask for anything more.
Manila however.... Frustrating as ever.
