Hi Folks,

Will be making our first trip on JL in a couple of months (SYD-NRT-JFK) in Y+ with +1 and infant (5 mths). Couple of quick questions...

First -The MMB section of the JL website is pretty tough to decipher. I can't double check whether our QFF numbers have been added correctly. Is there any tool such as checkmytrip.com that can be used to sense check a booking on a JL PNR?

Secondly does anyone have any experiences of JL Y+ they'd like to share? Also, any experiences of flying JL (Y+ or otherwise) with an infant, or as a QF SG? Any chance of upgrades or special treatment?!

Doesn't seem to be much info around on JL Y+ so interested to hear from anyone with first-hand experience.

Thanks!

Firstly, go to 'View my Reservations' and enter the JL reservation no., flight number, date etc. and you can then choose your seats. But, as you will need a bassinet I suggest you phone JAL to ask for a pair of bulkhead seats with bassinet. Get them to add your QFF number then.

We flew Y+ to CDG last September and were quite impressed.

Good room in the seats (width and pitch) with a wide centre armrest for drinks but the seat didn't have much recline and I think they would be more comfortable for sleeping if you were short. Much better than Y though;)

Good size TV but with limited English options.

The meal was the same as economy but they also offered nice icecreams and noodles between meals for Y+ and self serve snacks in the galley.

Noise cancelling headphones are not available on the SYD-NRT flight but we got them on the sector to CDG. A great little LED light folds from the side of the seat for reading. Amenities are basic and the same as what are handed out in Business class. ALL the Japanese passengers in Y+ and J changed into the supplied slippers as soon as we boarded.

One FA was particularly attentive and always had a smile - she even gave us a handwritten postcard thanking us for travelling with JAL and signed by her. Sweet.

Lounge access was offered and we enjoyed the one in NRT particularly the free massages and meals in the dining room. The lockers near the entrance are handy for any bags you don't need while in the lounge. And there are some good spots over near the window where you could 'park' the pram and be a bit secluded.

I have read on FT that you have Buckleys of ever being upgraded on JAL.

We have another flight to NRT next month in Y+ and are looking forward to it.
