Man tries to open Qantas door on descent

I'm reminded of a similar incident late last year when I was on a Qantaslink flight TSV - CNS.
Fellow tried to open door after landing whilst we were still taxiing. All credit to the FA who handled herself well and got the fella back sitting down.
Unfortunately after disembarking and walking on the safari trek back to the terminal he stood on a manhole cover clearly marked with words to the effect " DANGER - FLAMMABLE" and attempted to light a cigarette. Ground staff bloke launched himself at him but remained quite polite I thought under the circumstances). Passenger walking just in front of me wasn't quite so polite and called him an idiot ( he actually used a slightly more colourful phrase).

Several passengers commented on how he had been spoken to in TSV before boarding (he aparently tried to board before the boarding actually commenced) as it was very obvious he had been overindulging in something other than a quick beer at the bar.

Am surprised they let him board given he was clearly intoxicated, as they do have the right to deny boarding.

Let's face it, aircraft, tarmac, aprons, mining sites, building sites are incredibly dangerous places. Most people probably have no idea of the dangers and are unlikely to ever work in such a risky environment. The most real danger people get exposed to are paper cuts and self-inflicted drunken activities.

For the most part people are guided around the dangers and aren't at risk.

With people like the smoker above, I can understand why the aircraft designers designed doors not to open in flight. Sooner or later someone is going to try.
