Well, it looks like someone has got so sick of TT he's snapped, and taken it out on the carrier the best way he knows how.

Man Pounces on Tiger Terminal
By Will Horton, Flightglobal on June 10, 2010 11:26 AM

Had Tiger chosen to write a press release regarding the overnight incident of a man breaking into its Gold Coast terminal and proceeding to break windows and upend furniture, one suspects they would have given in to their tendency to use the pun "pounce".

Alas, there was no press release, so I'll make the Tiger-rific quip for them in this installment of quirky news.

To see the damage caused by the eye of the tiger, head over to the Gold Coast Carrier's 22-picture slide show. The terminal was shut down for the day and flights operated out of the main terminal. Tiger expects its terminal to open again tomorrow. Police are still investigating.

On the positive side, being an ultra-low-cost carrier, Tiger designed an ultra-low-cost terminal where there wasn't much to damage to begin with. But still, next time you read their in-flight magazine Tiger Tales, don't expect to see this Tiger tale.

I saw the smashed windows on Gold Coast news this afternoon, but was leaving the house so only saw, didn’t hear, didn’t realise it was Tiger’s terminal.

Tiger needs to put out a better image or this wont be the last time.

According to Nine's Gold Coast News last night, he was annoyed at missing an international flight with another airline (not Tiger) and took it out on Tiger (for some/no apparent reason).

They also showed some poor bugger who arrived on time at the Tiger Terminal (T3), but by the time he walked to T1 he'd missed his flight and the tight buggers at Tiger told him stiff (as they do). Didn't even get a call or txt to advise of the Terminal change.

With luggage, it's about an awkward 4-5 min walk along a road dodging traffic.... no footpath (unless one has popped up in the last few months).

Very poor form on TT's behalf. In a situation like that, if they aren't sending out advice of a Term change, then there needs to be leniency with the check in times..... not as though the planes are always on time anyway.

Some of the captions in the picture list in the link given by the OP mention 'equipment damaged'. I wonder what kind of equipment.

I also assume that this was done with relatively few people around, especially TT people, otherwise I'm surprised why the man (assumed) would not hurt them too.

There's also no mention as to whether they caught the culprit.

Couldn't agree more - while the issue wasn't caused by them, it affected their pax and they should have shown appropriate grace and consideration to those inconvenienced by the terminal switch.

The fact they didn't, as you noted from reports, is disgraceful and they should be taken to task for it.

Seriously, how hard would it have been to get some A3 signs on the airport & parking entrances to inform people of the change.... lazy and pathetic on TT's part IMHO.

TT not being nice to pax is no surprise... That's just who TT are...

The thing that does surprise me is where was security during this whole incident???

What is to stop a person from breaking in and then leaving something such as a weapon or explosive in the secure part of the terminal ready for a pax the next morning to take on a flight with them?

Haha, another happy customer.

Looks to be the culprits remain unknown. I guess when the police ask Tiger do they have any one who might hold a grudge, Tiger just hands over a huge ream of paper and says take your pick.

Actually I'd imagine the police would ask for the list of people who don't hold a grudge, it would be quicker to read through and eliminate those people first. :D

Apparently he was found in the building when police arrived. He couldn't work out how to get out!

This is a perfect example of why security of airport buildings should be done solely by AFP and not outsourced to 3rd party security companies.

TT it seems has that effect on people. From what was on TV which showcased their product they needed the AFP during the day when needed and by night it seems are too cheap to employ security when needed...
