Malaysia Airlines to join Oneworld alliance

As far as I can tell (and as I noted to the phone agent), KUL is the only hub of a oneworld carrier not included in the desintations.

Thats not very Oneworld-ly of Qantas is it?

I just spoke to QF about this. The agent put me on hold to investigate because he thought KUL was loaded as an award destination. He returned to say that due to "system limitations" KUL would never appear in the list and they do not have authority to waive the phone booking fee.

Wow.
But is the limitation because of the QF system, or the MH system? I'd be betting on the latter.

Flight ended up being very pleasant including a nice refreshment, Salmon Quiche:

Seats are well equipped for gadgets:

On landing I noticed a reminder of why personally I choose not to fly some airlines, this one was a take off:

Looking good, I'm off to KUL next week so will be good to see it all again this time as OneWorld

Yesterday I booked a classic reward flight for my wife on MH in J MEL/CDG return in June. I rang the QF Platinum help line and got the exact dates and flights I was after. The operator was exceptionally helpful and did comment that she was surprised how many J reward tickets QF has access to on MH flights. She wondered if MH will wake up to it soon and scale it back like all other OW airlines have.

I'm working in Europe at that time and will now buy J tickets on the same flight. Last time my wife came with me on a work trip I was in J, she in Y (but we did swap a few times) so she is very happy to fly MH if it means a J seat.

Why is it MH classic award flights can't be booked inline?. Looking for a BNE or SYD J B to KUL and HKG.

I didn't get a personal one the other day on a Sin - Kul flight, but they did welcome all the OW frequent flyer

A Qantas phone agent told me it was due to "system limitations" and would remain unbookable online. I've no idea what is meant by that. At that point (about two weeks ago) the agent told me they had no authority to waive the 6k booking fee.

Does MH have flat beds in J on the LHR legs?

On their 777s I believe they do, yes.
