Maintaining QFF status without flying to Australia

Yeah, but I don't think you can buy those as a standalone ticket.

Can you buy SIN-NRT on the JL codeshare as a standalone ticket?

Easier ways... Long stopover with domestic codeshares spread into the second year. ex LHR codeshares or LHR-DXB.

Or just give up all together, not like QFF is worth anything anyway.

What was the cost of this itin OP? Fares to PPT from anywhere are horrendously expensive so I would almost think it would be cheaper to fly a deep discounted Y fare LOTFAP-SYD/MEL/BNE return, and a short hop return whilst in AU.

Not cheap indeed, around USD1,750. Actually PPT from MEL/SYD is currently AUD1,350.
As stated initially, I was just surprised that these PPT flights could be booked from the US with a QF number. This can even be booked in conjunction with QF11/12 LAX-JFK which I always thought could only be booked as part of an itinerary including Australia.

Schedule 2 lists QF codeshare destinations on the BA network.

Schedule 2 is almost 3 years old (Feb 2013). I believe you can delete BRU, OSL, and ARN from that list.
Yes, I think you would need to add these six UK/Europe destinations to an ex-Aus (or a non-UK) booking rather than being able to do a stand-alone booking.

TXL-LHR-DXB-LHR-DXB should work, for example, but the prices are sometimes quite expensive.

Taking some Jetstar flights form SIN are maybe a bit easier.
