Maintain Velocity Platinum - how long for you?

Just realised that i'm already only 320 SCs from maintaining Plat. I've already managed 480 since the 25th of August. I think my flying will slow down a little over the next few months but i'd say i'll maintain plat around the end of november/ beginning of December at this rate. Given those of us who are BIS plats were all made plat on or around the same day, i thought it might be amusing to start a thread where people can note when they actually hit that mark.

So, given i'm getting close, i figure *someone* must have already done it?

I was thinking about a thread along the same lines only a couple of days ago! I hit Platinum on Sept 1, but I'm "only" up to 280 SCs - I guess that's not bad in 38 days though!

I'll be at least at 435 by end November worst case, and best case could be up to 675.

I am at 420SC with booked trips through to the middle of November I will be 780 SC then. I am sure I can sneak something in to get to 800 before then end of November.

Sitting on 460 and with 2 MEL-PER trips plus CNS BNE ADL and SYD in next six weeks should be requalified by end NOV

I'll be about half way there in another week or so; US trip in the December/January timeframe looking likely which will take me up to three quarters of the way and then a Europe trip in April to take me across the line. Given the requal date is August, I'll get there with plenty of time to spare.

My requalification date is end-November, but I got across the line in September. I've got a few more flights to do before the counter gets reset to zero, but no chance of reaching the 'partner Gold' level again.

My flying for next year looks like it will be significantly reduced. I'm glad that I will be spending more time at home, but after six years at Platinum I doubt I'll qualify again (I'll miss the Sydney and Melbourne First lounges). It was good while it lasted!

Six years? "First lounges"? Please tell us more about these Virgin Australia First Lounges!

I suspect you're posting in the wrong forum.

As for me, I was status matched in early September, and I won't get my SCs to maintain until June next year sometime, I think. Of course, it would help if VA would hurry up and let me know how many SCs I can earn on DL.

Yeah I'm waiting on the DL earn to be announced too. I've got 2 F class tickets booked with them in January (where the AA price was literally double the DL price) and I'm hoping to get a few SCs for the trouble! If
I do, I should get Plat requal by end of January. Partner Gold I'll have by end of November.

My SC's reset on 1 May. Already requalified at 1310SC's - damn overachievement! - last month. No status runs or double SC promotions, just normal travel.

Crossing to the dark side and having "graciously' accepted a staus match, I will see how many DJ sc's I can get before my QF year starts again. Not sure I understand how DJ calculates sc and miles, but it will be an interesting experiment.

I guess the point of this thread is exactly that. We're not after how long a requal for QF is!

We're trying to see who will requal for Platinum first - it was only introduced in late August - the goal is to see who will hit the 800 to requal first. Won't be me - it will take me about 3-4 months (depending when Delta SC earn kicks in) whereas some here look like doing it in 2 months!

(FWIW - my requal date for QF and DJ is now exactly the same - I will requal for DJ quicker though, as QF Plat will be after 7 months, compared to 3-4 on DJ).

Hit plat oct 4... 90 SCs since then. But my domestic travel is lumpy. I'm flying a couple of times a week till christmas but could go months after that before my next domestic travel stint. My primary points earn is long haul. J return to London on Etihad in feb and again in September will see me re-up for sure though.

....340 SC to go by March 2012 to retain Platinum. Last 3 years retention based on Discount Economy travel only....ouch. Trips to Czech, UAE, Taiwan, Malaysia in next 2 months plus a few interstate should carry me through.

A Platinum Virgin (if you'll pardon the pun) could only possibly have re-qualification dates somewhere between August 25, 2012 and October 12, 2012!

I guess it's not clear enough that being in the Virgin Australia Velocity section of the site means the thread is about Velocity ... maybe you need to add "Velocity" to the title of this thread as well as create a new thread in the Qantas area?? :shock:
