Made any travel mistakes lately?

That's interesting I remember a couple of years ago my French trains had an English announcement as well.
This seems to be a bit of a backwater route going via Colmar and almost into Switzerland on its way to Lyon. Lots of German accents on board.

It has moved its way up the list of things to do. I had wanted to go to Annecy but it is a bit over 2 hours each way from Lyon.

It’s interesting most people I know loved Annecy but although I found it attractive, I wouldn’t go back

I loved Annecy! Great fresh food market in town. Cute town, great food. Beautiful lake, we cycled around and went for a swim.
Beautiful trips up to the hills. Beautiful countryside. We did visit in July, so great weather.

Not really a travel mistake but more like me being dumb.
Went through security at MEL and was waiting for my hand luggage to come through.
Waited.
Waited.
Others were coming through and grabbing their bags.
Why was mine taking so long?
Realised my bag was waiting for me right behind me on the opposite conveyor belt.
Would have been a good 7 or 8 minutes until I realised.
🤦

Checked which countries my SIM (3) roams free in, noted Sri Lanka was one.

Completely forgot and ended up purchasing an eSIM the day before I travelled (as had been sorting out my folks etc. so my head was muddled with all their requirements), fortunately only a £4.14 mistake.

Sadly, honesty does not prevail and we got a $400GBP bill for the replacement part

Shot off a response, which is the employee removed it in their garage and kept the part and put our luggage in the rear, and asked them to provide security camera footage as the vehicle handover happened inside their warehouse/complex. Now we wait again
Hopefully final update but I kept pushing back on car rental agency and overnight they seemed to accept our claim/info that the part is at the original car rental place and/or they found it and we received a email advising no claims will be made against us for the missing part and the matter is now closed

Screwed up a Qantas Hotels booking from a previous points promo by putting my dad down as the lead traveller on his booking with my FF number attached.

I got the standard points for both bookings but was wondering why I only got one lot of 3000 bonus points. Re-read the T&Cs: "In order to be eligible for the bonus points, the name of the lead traveller must match the name associated with the Qantas Frequent Flyer number." D'oh! 🤦‍♂️

Booked some Greek Island stays based on 2024 ferry schedules and it appears that the daily schedule between a couple is not daily this season. Now trying to figure out a way to get around my dilemma without losing a nights accommodation on of the islands and finding a night on another. Still have around 2 months before we hit the Cyclades so will keep holding out for a change in ferries.

Went to the wrong international train station in Vienna for our train to Salzburg. Just assumed there would only be one major station to depart from and had based our accommodation on being close to that train station. Thankfully we had got there early and had time to get a taxi to the other train station.

Taxi had a little prang on the way but that’s another story.

Logged out of my Australian account on my iphone yesterday and logged in with a different email address set in the UK so I could download a few apps.

Logged back in on my Aussie account and just went to pay for lunch - whoops forgot to add my cards back in and no cards there. Very lucky that I had a physical card in my purse or I'd be going hungry

Just booked a domestic Garuda flight but put the wrong email address down for the eticket and booking confirmation. Should I be too concerned that somebody is able ‘manage my booking’ just using the PNR and my surname which they’ll have from the email 🤦🏻‍♂️

You know you can just change app stores but even then, I’m sure there are unintended consequences.
