It's interesting how many different pages i had to check for macau transit from HKIA. Actually a very straightforward process but the information isn't - some are out of date like the ferry.
Edit: As this got made into it's own thread I'll add the options and process. This applies to both Zhuhai and Macau.
Option 1 - Direct Bus
The most convenient option is now the HK Macau direct bus that seemed to have more or less replaced the ferry. It's a 45min journey across the HZMB bridge. You must not enter HK to use this service.
You can either book the ticket online or at E2 transfer counter. They will require a MCT of around 60minutes with checked luggage or 30mins without. 1 free checked luggage per person. Cost is 280 MOP/HKD one way for an adult however it can be free right now one way with the tourism promotion.
You do not need to do anything special at your departure check-in and bag drop, the bus staff will pick up your luggage for you (and if you have a CX "flight number" booked as your original booking it'll be checked through I believe).
Goto E2, and check in there at the counters just behind the ferry and they may even move you up a service (we moved from 20:00 to 19:00 due to early arrival of our flight). Take the people mover to the sky pier and wait for the bus. You do not enter HK this way. You'll be reunited with your luggage just before boarding the bus.
From the HZMB port, depending on where you're staying you can take Public Bus, Taxi (or Uber Taxi if you want to pay with your CC) or free hotel shuttle if its near one of the casinos.
On the reverse there's options to check in at Macau Port border if the airline at skypier supports it. You'll need approximately 3h to your flight from when the bus departs. They checked my details much more carefully than normal check in desk (perhaps because they don't have access to the airline systems).
Option 2 - Enter HK
With this option you will need to enter HK clear immigration and pick up your bags. Then take the B4 bus to the HK Port side of the HZMB bridge. I believe this costs $9.8HKD right now. You then buy a ticket for the golden bus which runs 24/7 and shuttles between the border ports. I believe it costs $65HKD ($70 for 00:00-06:00). This is a significantly cheaper option than the direct bus and anyone can use it.
Alternatively you can also take a ferry if you're closer to the main city.
Personally if you already have ways to pay for Public Transport in HK, you can use the direct bus to Macau as it's free then use the golden bus on the way back.
