I'm thinking about surprising Mrs! with a quick trip to Macau, I'm considering 26th to 30th this month. I have "pay later" booked QF seats in Y+ and am now looking at hotels. We will be going there for fun and games (its also our wedding ann) with the emphasis on games :), I am looking for a good hotel/casino in the max $500AUD per night. Can anyone reccommend a hotel?

Asia rooms dot com reviews look like they were written by the hotel managers... :(

Thanks in advance...

Stayed in a few hotels in Macau before and still finds the Venetian the best. A bit out of town at the Cotai strip but have everything there. Good rates available at the moment.

Go to www.venetianmacao.com/en/

Cheers,

Ric

I stayed at the Venetian back in April 08 and though its a pretty hotel to look at, I thought it was a bit too distant from the rest of the old Macau (though taxi's are cheap and plentiful anyway).

The Venetian (back in April) was the only hotel/casino open on the Cotai strip and everything around it was/still under construction - so unless you plan to stay/play/dine exclusively within the Venetian complex then another hotel in the older Macau should be considered. The MGM Grand looked impressive as I walked through the place one night however my $0.02 is don't stay at the Wynn's as I was clearly unimpressed after seeing the real Wynn's in Las Vegas in Nov 2007.

As the Venetian is an all suite resort - the rooms are large and pretty but you would be hitting close to $500 per night w/ the current exchange rates (as I paid around $450pn when our AUD was rising).

What about the Sands ? I dont mind being able to walk about all the stuff near where the ferry docks, you can find a few places for food etc that are not the hotel.

I have never actually stayed overnight in Macau, only in HKG and got the jet-ferry across.

Used to live in the big noodle so done a few trips to Macau. Last Christmas we stayed at Wynns, and can thoroughly recommend this place. Off the ferry catch the minibus to the hotel. very central and plush. good casino and I believe the world most profitable shop - LV. The Rolex shop has the most models i have ever seen.

Enjoy asnd you should get some good deals at present.

cheers SPRUCE:lol:

Has anyone experienced the Waldo?

There are good junior suite rates available...

We stayed at the Sofitel at Ponte Sixteen last November after the Bledisloe Cup. They had the best rooms for A$180 I've ever seen! The casino and nightlife isn't much to write home about, but it is a short cab ride to MGM, Wynn and the others closer to the ferry terminal.
