Hi all,

If I travel on AA Dom Y DEN-LAX and then connect to QF J LAX-SYD on a different PNR, will I have to pay for luggage at AA checkin?

For the AA Y ticket as a standalone, i will have to pay $60 for 2 pieces up to 23kg and $150 for the third.

I know AA will check bags through to SYD on the one luggage tag, but Im unsure if AA will waive the baggage fees...

Im hoping that because QF is the most significant carrier then my entitlement for the entire journey DEN-LAX-SYD will be the same as the QF luggage allowance...

Different PNR, different journeys. It will not be considered a single journey, but two separate journies.

If you are QF SG or PS then your 1st and 2nd bag will be free of charge (if you are WP you can also check a 3rd bag for free with OWE privilege). The third bag will be $150. From AA website:

The following passengers will be allowed a 1st and/or 2nd checked bag at no additional charge provided it falls within the size and weight limitations. These free checked bag allowances apply on flights operated by American Airlines, American Eagle and American Connection[SUP]®[/SUP]. On flights operated by other carriers, different baggage charges may apply. Be sure to check your itinerary and receipt to see which airlines’ charges apply.

You can try valet check in...slip the guy $20 and he may let the 3rd bag slide.
I did it once on excess baggage fees. Mine was just a little overweight but.
Originally he wanted $100 excess fee.

Or carry it on as hand luggage...they never check that over there...lol
