While I'm firmly labour, the conditions they're striking for seem grossly out of touch with what I'd expect to be reasonable these days.

The airline wants to get rid of a programme that allows pilots to retire at age 55 and receive up to 60% of their pay until they reach the statutory retirement age of 65.

This kind of thing seems fairly common in Germany, unfortunately. It's not just Lufthansa.

Greedy unions at it again.

My reading of the report is management want to remove an entitlement the pilots currently have, so how is that being "greedy"? I want your backyard, you will not give it to me; so are you being greedy?

Straw man, much! Going on that theory - pilots would never, ever, get a salary increase or any additional conditions ... it's always a two way street
