Someone please confirm the 50SC loyalty bonus please.

Eligibility is:
500SC from eligible QF and JQ flights. Flight numbers must have QFxx_x or JQxx_x

Friend pressing me as he is not getting bonus offer 2 months after hitting the 500 (net)

The easiest way to check is under "Loyalty Bonus" after selecting "Status Credits" in their QFF Account. This should show whether the number of SCs required to earn the next Loyalty Bonus (obviously if it is showing 1000SCs and they've not received the selection email from QFF for their 500 then they should follow-up).

For example, although I've "earned" 950 SCs for this year, only 850 are counted, so I still need 150 before earning, which will happen at 1100 for the year; 1000 eligible.

I've earned a loyalty bonus. On offer is 50 SCs or 8,000 FF pts. I'm a Gold FF, have close to 1M points, and am close to Lifetime Silver (within 12 months). I generally maintain Gold status each year and could potentially reach LTG if I my current activity is maintained. Any thoughts or leanings either way?

My view is points can be easily earnt with CC sign up and other promotions. SC's can only be gained through flying. So i take the SC's

If it looks like I’ll need the sc to maintain gold, I’ll claim the sc, otherwise I take the points.

SC earnt from the recent double SC promo don't count towards the loyalty bonus as well.

Personally I'd go with the SC. That's what I'm doing. I want to progress towards LTG as quickly as I can. Then once I've reached that I'll probably try to go on points for premium long haul leisure flights when I can or try other airlines e.g. SQ.

Whilst the double SC don't count the standard SC still do. So if you fly e.g. MEL-BNE-CNS return in J, you'd get 240 standard SC + another 240 SC thanks to the double status promo (if you booked during the booking window and are flying in the flying window) but only 240 SC would count towards the loyalty bonus.

Thanks for all your advice - I've gone for the SC's. Indeed way more valuable given that FF pts can be gained elsewhere. :)

They did for me! Got my second bonus for the year the other day. Took the points this time as I’ll land north of 1200SCs but well short of 2400, so the 8000 points can go towards a free upgrade.

I qualified for a loyalty bonus just before my annual qualification date, which has now passed (reqalified WP and have LTG). Having passed the end of the year, and still not selected the option of points or SC’s, if I now choose SC, will they be credited to the new qualification year?

Who knows?!

I did the same thing. I earnt a Loyalty Bonus towards the end of my previous membership year, and made the election (for status credits) in the current membership year, hoping to get a head start this year.

Presently in the Qantas app, my status information shows as follows:
  • Status Credits you've earned this year: 580
  • You've earned 530 Status Credits towards retaining Gold
  • Retain Gold: 600
  • You retain Gold you need 20 more Status Credits
So, on the one hand, the app is telling me I've earned 530 Status Credits towards retaining Gold (meaning I need another 70 Status Credits to retain Gold), but it is simultaneously telling me I need just 20 more Status Credits to retain Gold.

Hence why I answered your question by saying "Who knows?!".

Yes as long as you choose your bonus in the new membership year.

I did it this membership year with no problems.

DSC counted to my 500 and 1000 milestone loyalty bonuses. And me too, never opt for points... chasing LTG.

At least QF's intention now is for loyalty bonuses to not count towards the Platinum Bonus Reward at 2400 SCs. Once you've attained/retained Platinum the only reason to take a loyalty bonus as SCs is to build up your lifetime SC tally.

I believe the intention going forward is for new DSC post a date back in March this year to no longer count towards loyalty bonuses unfortunately. It was good whilst it lasted. Standard credits will continue to count towards loyalty bonuses.

Has anyone ever had a loyalty bonus retrospectively added to the previous year due to delayed crediting of SC?

My partner is taking a flight the day before her membership anniversary, and the SC will unlock the loyalty bonus. Loyalty bonus gets her to WP so I'm hoping they can be added to the previous year...
