Loyalty Bonus Expiry

Hi all,

Maybe I missed something but is it common knowledge that loyalty bonuses expire?

I very rarely log in via qantas.com but on doing so today found I had it 1000sc and got to chose a loyalty bonus. In doing so I checked on my previous one (at 500sc) and noticed it hadn't be credited

On calling the contact centre I was told that this offer had expired and wasn't able to claim either

+ For the purposes of the Loyalty Bonus, the Status Credits earned must be from eligible Qantas or Jetstar flights (JQ, 3K, GK and BL) within a single membership year. Loyalty Bonus can be earned up to four times each membership year, to a maximum Loyalty Bonus of 32,000 Qantas Points or 200 Status Credits. If selected, Loyalty Bonus Status Credits do not count towards attaining or retaining Platinum One status. The Loyalty Bonus reward must be selected within 90 days from the date a member achieves the Loyalty Bonus. Once selected the reward cannot be changed.

TL;DR - 90 Days from reaching multiples of 500, up to 2000.

Yes the 90 day limit is hard. I had one recently and only had a day or two from expiry of my membership year. However, I wanted the SCs in the new year so logged on and claimed them with very little time to spare.

The expiry information is made very clear in the email you would've received upon qualifying for the bonus.

If I earned the loyalty bonus in my previous membership year (last month), and choose status credits in the current year - will that count towards the last or current membership year?

(Also I can’t decide what I want for once! I don’t think I need the SC for retaining WP so the points might be better?)

It will count towards the membership year you activate the bonus.

In my situation the expiry date was in my new membership year when I activated the bonus SCs. They are counting towards this year's SC chase.
