I need to do an unexpected low budget trip to New York and San Francisco in September. I've got a great fare on QF but need to do internal flights and accommodation in the US. Other than expedia, anyone have any suggestions on a low cost booking company.
I've looked at priceline.com, but they seem to have an odd way of taking bookings where you get a block of time to book in, and then they email back with the details after the CC is put in.
Any advice appreciated

Try the low fare search enging on bestflights.com.au.

There have been mixed reports about their telephone service but online searching is fine. You could also try kayak.com or search directly on southwest.com if they travel to where you need to go. Good luck.
