Lounges in Jakarta terminal 3

Hi all, I have a long layover at the CGK airport terminal 3 on the 18th Dec 2022 and was wondering if anyone knows if there are any of the PP lounges open or any lounge for that matter? According to the PP app, none of the lounges are available. My layover is about 9 hours so if there's nothing available, I will get out of the airport to a hotel to rest.

Yikes, nine hours - day or night? I would get out to some of the best restaurants in and around JKT (there are some real gems), and you could even get up to Bandung in a few hours; the tea plantations are a pleasant distraction from the heat and noise in JKT.

Call or email them?
I have but have to wait a couple of days for a reply. I thought I would put it out there for anyone who may have been in CGK recently.

From about 2pm onwards. Thanks for tips.

Saphire was definitely open earlier this year.
Google shows it open 0300-0100 daily.

Or is the problem that it’s not a PP lounge?

Garuda lounge is open as well.

Factor in a visa if you do want to go landside.

As for Bandung, I would definitely NOT be heading that far from CGK. To reach the city is three hours minimum, but could be four, or five… usually not so much a problem heading to Bandung, but heading back into Jakarta on a Sunday afternoon could be problematic. If you do want to get outside from 2pm, note that West Java is getting rain and thunderstorms most afternoons right now. Localised flooding occurs somewhere around Jakarta most days.

Never been to Jakarta but hear the traffic is legendary. I had an award flight (later cancelled) with long layover and in planning was wondering if the train would be better to get into the city

The train is okay, but in true Indonesian fashion it’s not seamless into the centre of the city. Depends where you want to go I guess.

Taxis are cheap. Even the more expensive Silverbird only cost about AUD37 from the city to CGK a few weeks back. Fri afternoon, reasonable traffic load, took about an hour to go the 30-odd kms. I’d consider that a win. Regular Bluebird taxi would be about $12-17 and is fine.

But yes, the traffic can be terrible. An accident or heavy rain might make a one hour journey become five hours.
Yang tinggal di Indonesia harus berpeluknya.

If you don’t want to head right into the city there is 2 Ibis properties at the airport complex. We have stayed at the Ibis Styles before and that offers a free shuttle which takes about 5 minutes. Rooms are comfy enough and the hotel has a pool and gym and rates usually start at around $40. You can rest for a few hours and have a shower. We have also stayed at the Mercure PIK a few times and that is only about 15 minutes away by taxi and is around $90. Rooms are very comfy and the hotel has a decent bar and restaurant as well as a pool and gym facilities. The hotel is incorporated into the PIK mall which has plenty of shops and restaurants too if you want to go for a wander

I have Priority Pass which usually uses Plaza Premium lounges. The PriPass app shows that the lounges are not available hence the question. I guess I'll know when I get there.

The lounge is okay for an hour or two at most certainly not one to kill 9 hours.

Id look at a nearby hotel for a day room, have a swim etc

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yep, have booked ibis last night to whittle away the time. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Have heard that Plaza have split from PP

I've never been there but I believe that the lounges there are vast because they have a very nice big airport

I believe at one point, CX may have had its own lounge (90's); however, it uses PP these days. Serfty or other gurus will confirm or correct. I did many HKG-JKT/JKT-SYD hops, and I recall Soekarno-Hatta as a functional airport that seemed to work better than other parts of the country - a low hurdle, admittedly.

OT I clearly recall the local airport announcer had an exceptionally silky, seductive voice which made me believe Bahasa Indonesian, spoken that way, was the French form of Malay! Still, OT, I recall being on a rejected CX330 takeoff and slumming it at the Mandarin Oriental for a few days on CX coin while parts were hammered back into shape. CX and ground staff managed the unplanned event well.

Yeah the Sapphire Lounge was the go to on my last CX trip out of CGK.
Not a bad lounge, comfortable seating and good tarmac views. The negatives were with the large amount of windows the aircon was practically non existent resulting in quite a warm and stuffy area. The buffet selection was also pretty average but made up for by a chef preparing some wonderful dishes that could be ordered at the bar. Showers and toilets were not in great nick and not clean so didn’t bother. Was nice enough for a couple of hours but anything more than that would be too much IMO.

Seems that the sapphire and blue lounge are closed but the plaza premium ones are as part of the ⭐️ alliance. Will use that instead.
Thanks for all the info and tips. Privilege to have found and joined this forum.
