G'day all, first post here but have read many threads, such a great source of information, many thanks.

Im traveling PER- PVG via Hong Kong next week on Cathay in Y. On the return I will have a few hours to kill in Hong Kong. I'm a QF Gold, so which lounge/lounges can I access and are any better than others? From what I can tell there are a few options, but just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction!

Many thanks and apologies for not knowing all the abbreviations.

Depending on your departure gate, there is the CX Wing which was recently re-opened, or the pier or cabin.

Even with access to the F lounges - I'm happy to use the j cabin if departing from a nearby gate. Very light and airy - which are qualities I'm quite fond of.

I prefer the cabin. One wall is all windows, smoothie bar. Not busy. It isn't trying to be a f lounge, but it is successfully cool.

All the lounges in HKG are all very nice.

No showers in the Cabin.

New Wing is stunning.

Pier is nice.

I would choose based on gate (arrival and departure) and depending on exactly how much time mooch around lounges. Last week as I had to buy some headphones, even though I arrived at Gate 30ish I mooched down to the Wing (gate 4) checked out the new lounge and then into the F section of that lounge, then went to the Pier (gate 64) and finally back to gate 23 for the Cabin before boarding at gate 30. I had four hours from 9:30PM local time to 1:30AM local time (midnight to 4AM body clock time) so walking helped keep me awake...

Most lounges in HKG are quite nice including the Dragonair and Qantas lounges. I have not tried the JL lounge so cannot comment on that one.

I am going to visit everyone of the HKG lounges again in a few weeks time so that I do not get too bored and keep my opinion of each lounge up to date....

I actually quite like the VS lounge in HKG :) Nice food there too.

Just went to the Wing and the Cabin this week. Cabin is nicer as it has a more homely feel - but it was completely chockers. Good food and drinks for brekky, but no showers.

The newly refurbed Wing (J only at the moment) is fantastic, but is a bit dead. Great noodle bar though (on demand food). Coffee bar disappointing (average coffee). Absolutely fantastic showers.

As a side note, i was going to try all of them in 2 separate days but the Pier is just too far away to go to unless your departure gate is nearby.

That was the main prob with the cabin,

I was really wanting a shower and had to go to another lounge.

But you can do some lounge hoping if you want in HKG and choose one that is not that busy.

What is the new Wing?

The CX website indicates the new F Wing won't open until 4th quarter 2012 so is the new Wing the new J Wing?

Yes, only opened a few months ago after a total refurb.

Entrance is opposite gate 6, and the lounge is split over two levels with the upper level being right alongside the F Wing lounge (now being refurbished).

Hi All,

Anyone compared the Pier or Wing J/F lounges to the VS clubhouse in HKG? If so, how does the VS lounge stack up against the Pier/Wing?

Cheers,
K.

Note that there is a F only section of the J lounge. Not sure if the food or drink is any different - I just ordered champagne as usual.

I'm not a champagne drinker but subscribe to the theory 'When in Rome . . .' What should I order?

I think it is Moet only - I have never seen the bottle nor asked - it is better than the battery acid they serve in Int'l J though (Deutz).

Was there last week and it was the Moet.. Also we just ordered food in the noodle bar and took it back to the F section..

I visited the Pier, G16 and the Cabin this week. The former was the pick but the Cabin was certainly respectable. I learnt why, on Flyertalk, the CX sticky says "No one cares when the G16 lounge opens and closes".
