Lounge to myself

A few years ago I had the IB lounge in MAD all to myself for almost an hour before a coue of people showed up, around midday.

It was not in the main terminal, maybe the satellite one.

I had the Qantas Hong Kong lounge to myself last Friday for about an hour or so before getting CX739 to SIN.

Before the remodel, I have had the SIN J lounge to myself. It was just after opening. Staff kept bringing me food and drink, so I was quite annoyed when that service was diluted by the next guest to arrive 30 minutes later.

Last year on my way to IST I found myself in a TG lounge in BKK by myself. Quite odd for such a large lounge.

The crazy thing is that the VNO Business Lounge is actually better (in my opinion) than the AY lounge at HEL. The food and beverage options before a short-haul flight were significantly better than AY has to offer at its home port before a 12-hour flight. Beer, wine (red, white sparkling) juice or water for drinks, and tomato soup, some gluggy rice and bean mix, and salad is about all. Oh, and about 20 people in the lounge with departures to HKG and SIN in the next few hours. Its one of those times when a delay on the first leg would be appreciated.

I quite like the AY non-shengen lounge at HEL. Although I agree about the ordinary food and wine selection (especially the wine selection - one of the wines come out of a tap!!). I miss the adjacent spa with 5 or so different types of Finnish saunas and the pool, now closed down :(

A couple of weeks back, I had the QF MEL lounge to myself, prior to the 12.50am CX flight. Actually, the dragon didn't want to let me in, she was a bit rude, definitely unfriendly. QF first lounge was already closed, and I think that they also wanted to close up for the evening. And they weren't in any hurry to put out any food either....

Had the NRT QC all to myself one morning pre JL flight NRT-ORD. Had been lounge hopping between the JL, AA and QF lounges.

The QC was only really worth the effort because it was close to the departure gate.

I had the SYD QF Dom J lounge to myself for a while once, until the staff reminded me that there were no more flights departing that night and if I wouldn't mind moving on :D

I've also had the VA CBR lounge to myself many times. The staff are so bored when it's like that they offer table service F&B.

Many moons ago I had the F section of the AR lounge at EZE to myself when travelling on QF in F. It was so long ago that the return trip SYD - EZE in F cost 100,000 points

Use to have the QF BKK J lounge to myself many times when catching a daytime CX flight. Earlier in the year also had the massive AA Admiral's Lounge in DFW to myself when catching a late Saturday Night Flight - was actually a bit spooky.

I've had the HKG QF J lounge by myself a few times, for the early morning or mid afternoon 3K departures to SIN. Also had the BNE F lounge a few days ago, in transit from QF52 to QF8. Then there was the pre-refurbed SIN J lounge, just after its opening hours. I also had the CX Arrival lounge by myself some time back, but it's not somewhere I visit frequently.

The first few times I had the whole place to myself, I thought it was nice. A few more times, I would think that perhaps other people have more common sense than I do and are staying grounded.

I was the sole customer for a while in the QF international J lounge at AKL a few years ago during an early AM transit from QF26 (A332) to QF26 (B738). Before any other pax arrived I was treated to the unusual (well I'd never seen it before and have never seen it since) sight of two security staff wielding sticks with mirrors at the base of them 'sweeping' the lounge checking the underside of all the chairs, not to mention opening and inspecting all the cupboards and their contents.

Many moons ago - Ansett Golden Wing BNE lounge for a few hours very late one night.

More recently, the Gladstone and Cairns QF Clubs.

I had the Reykjavic (KEF) Saga lounge to myself for a while and only one other passenger turned up at peak hour. I had the entire SAS Business Class on the plane to myself too (one row of J). The lounge was actually a fair size - just empty.

I have been the first person at the SQ J lounge in Sydney for a short while.

The Europa Lounge at MUC was all mine for about an hour or so after checking in right on opening for a MUC-HEL on Finnair early last month... the airport was pretty quiet in general, actually - a German holiday (Unity Day), IIRC...

Cheers.

Had the VA CBR lounge to myself on a Saturday evening flight a couple of weeks ago, actually did a lap around to check nobody was there, a bit strange. But then I am used to having whole terminals empty from when I was working at the airport, that was fun :D

You didn't have to do the lap in the old lounge. You just had to swivel your head! :)
