Lounge passes

Hi all, I have 2 lounge passes from when I was silver(gold now). Can my wife use these even when im not traveling with her?

Have a feeling the answer is no but thought id ask anyway.

I wanted to use one the other day for my sister but unless I was flying I couldn't use it. I am Platinum and was told I definitely couldn't use it.

Seems to be a bit of a downgrade as i had taken somebody into the lounge last year. I wasn't flying but they were flying domestic Virgin.

The funny thing is that I am a lounge member but can't even use it when relations are flying out.
